Just like how customs allows travelers to cross international borders, gateways are what enable data to cross network borders. Watch on to learn about networking gateways and their significance.

In networking, a gateway is necessary for data to pass between two networks with different transmission protocols. They work almost like a language translator, serving as an entry and exit point for a network that all traffic passes through before moving on.

A router is the most common and well-known type of gateway, connecting home or business networks with the internet. But, there are a variety of other types of networking gateways, including web application firewalls, cloud storage gateways, API gateways, IoT gateways, media gateways, email security gateways and voice over IP gateways, among others.

I'm unable to imagine what a gateway looks like, so it's software and not hardware?
they're saying on Wikipedia that it is a networking hardware
Could you please explain to me this point, I'm finding it hard to understand it.
