I have the same question as Kazim Raza... do Data Sources get created only ONCE at the Primary Gateway or do we need to duplicate them onto the Secondary?

Implemented couple of Months back after we were facing multiple failures. It was really helpful. It's worth mentioning even though it's a basic one . In a real case scenario, make sure ports are opened to access the on prem data sources from both Gateway machines.

Hi Adam. Many thanks for the Video. Just need to clarify that, do I need map data source on both the gateway cluster ?

Not sure if you guys will see this comment, but I am curious. I am setting up a Power Bi Cluster in AWS, normally I'd expect to put a Load Balancer in front of any clustered resource but I kinda get that is not the case with the Power Bi Gateway. I am guessing you just define your servers in the client making the connection to the gateway and also registering the Power Bi Gateways to Azure. If you or anyone happens to know please comment or link docs to it. I've searched and searched but no clear answer.

@Guy in a Cube, can we have a multi-region gateway cluster? Like, if one enterprise gateway will be assigned to EAST-US and another one to CENTRAL-US? Does that depend on the premium region/power bi home region?

We have 8 enterprise gateways and two cluster gateways. My question is do we need cluster gateway for each enterprise gateway or can I club multiple gateways under one cluster gateway?

Does the cluster rollback to the primary gateway when that one is online again?

Hi Adam, Great video!
I have set up a second gateway on a separate VM, but during install I didn't check the box to put it under the existing cluster, how can I add that now stand-alone gateway to the cluster?
Thanks!

Hey Adam, Thats a great video, just one question, suppose the gateway is up and running but underlying database goes down, in this scenario, will other gateway be used.

Also, what if both databases are hosted on same machine, can we configure databases instead of machine names. Thanks in advance for your response.

Thanks for a good video!

A bit of a long question: Can a cluster hold 2 gateways from different regions, let's that the primary gateway and cluster are located in West Europe and the second gateway is in North Europe?

The scenario here is that initially the idea was to generate PBI report based on AAS. The Azure resources are in West Europe but for some reason the PBI environment is in North Europe. So the Azure gateway installed in order to link the AAS and the Azure DB is in West Europe. But now there is a need for a PBI report that fetches data from the Azure DB in West Europe through db import, but the gateway cannot reach the PBI region. Currently the dilemma is if the gateway should be re-installed but set in North Europe and risk a bit of latency or install a second gateway for North Europe in order to be able to refresh these few "import-reports"?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Adam, I'm also a little bit confuse about the usage of the gateway in the enterprise.
1) How can the users who publish their reports use the gateway. Do I need to set them as administrator of the gateway, or do I have to go through all their dataset to connect their data ?
2) WHat is the best practice for the credentials on dataset via gateway ? Users cannot use their own, as passwords change every 3 months. Do you use a "powerreader" kind of user ?

thanks in advance

I am working on gateway from last 1 year but not aware on how exactly gateway clustering need to be setup & work but your video on this really helped me a lot to clarify all my doubts. Thanks You so much.

Also it would be great help if you can start creating videos on admin activities like how to use activity log to get audit data, Usage activity, Identify gateway server load, How to decide gateway server configuration, Capacity management. It will really help.Thank You.

As usual, awesome stuff, and this time with improved video.
A couple questions though.
1 - so we don't have to establish data sources in both the data gateways, correct? Data sources paths will be picked up by the fail over gateway automatically.
2 - How can we add existing gateways to the cluster? Is there a PS cmdlet?

Thanks
Kaz
