Shortly before it crashed on January 3, 2004, the flight crew of Flash Airlines Flight 604 appeared to be regaining control of the 737. But by then, they had fallen too close to the sea to recover.

You know you’re in for a bumpy flight when you see the Smithsonian camera crew boarding the plane.

That's probably one of the worst ways to go out, crashing into the ocean in the middle of the night where you can't see anything outside the window.

How terrifying for the entire crew in those final moments knowing what was going to happen and not being able to do anything about it!🤔

Atleast we got the “it’s brighter here” when the sun came up and the ending screen rolled 🤗

One passenger and his family: a wife and his young kids: a young daughter along with another young kids were supposed to be on the flight but he decided to cancel because he find it ridiculous to take the flight very early in the morning not to mention he had to change planes upon reaching Cairo and his kids along with his daughter were so young.

I was on a South African Air night flight from Perth bound for Johannesburg and directly after takeoff the aircraft hit turbulence and rocking vibrations that went on and on in the pitch darkness as the we climbed out. It lasted well over 20mins in my estimation as we climbed for altitude and only ceased when we reached cruise. My heart was in my mouth all through because it was pitch black outside without a moon or any hint of the horizon. You can imagine my relief when the wheels kissed the runway at Johannesburg after the long flight.

Co pilot didn't feel confident enough to take control & correct the captain's mistake. The captain was confused, he turned further into the right turn, only making the situation worse. Such a horrendous final few minutes for those onboard.

I remember in South Vietnam 🇻🇳 we were flying and lost power on our DC-9 we were in a roll and pitched down leaving just flaps for lift we were able to stabilize rotation back and regain control but was a really close call and had successfully landed.
