Most common asked questions:
Does it really work?
- The results of this practice vary, as it focuses on de-puffing and draining fluid from your face to give a more sculpted appearance. Some individuals may experience more noticeable results if they naturally have puffiness due to water retention from various health reasons. However, it's important to note that this practice does not "move fat" or alter your bone structure. Besides the cosmetic benefits, there are also meditation and mindfulness advantages to doing this, leaving you feeling relaxed and grounded afterward. I always hope that viewers can appreciate this aspect as well.
Upwards motion or downwards motion on the neck?
- When performing lymphatic drainage, it's best to massage downwards. On the other hand, for anti-aging purposes, massaging upwards (working against gravity) is recommended. However, it's essential to remember that massages are versatile and not one-size-fits-all. These videos are designed to be easy for viewers to follow along, but you can always customise the massage to your preferences. Always listen to your body and pay attention to how it feels.
Do you have to use face oil?
- No, it's not necessary to use a face oil, but it's recommended to use at least a moisturiser or something that provides a slippery surface to work on. This helps prevent tugging and dragging on your skin during the massage.
What oil am I using?
- These are the oils I have used throughout my videos. For reference I have dry sensitive skin. Khiels Sativa Hemp Seed oil, The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil & Elf’s All the Feels Facial Oil.
Which Gua Sha tool is best? Jade or Rose quartz?
- In my personal opinion, it doesn't really matter which stone you use as long as it is smooth and free of scratches or bumps. Some people believe in crystal healing, and if you subscribe to that belief, then the choice of stones might matter more. However, if the purpose is solely for de-puffing the face, any smooth stone should be sufficient for the job.
What is better? Jade roller or Gua Sha stone?
- It depends on your preferences and needs. Jade rollers are great for rolling in skincare products, especially when used over a sheet mask. They can also be a better option if you have joint issues and find it challenging to use a Gua Sha stone. Personally, I enjoy Gua Sha more because it feels like a massage, and the wiggles at the end provide tension relief.
I initially began doing face Gua Sha for cosmetic purposes, aiming to achieve a more 'snatched' appearance. However, I soon realized that the meditation and mindfulness aspect of the practice was more beneficial to me. Moving forward, that's what I want to focus on. Thank you for following along with me.
