Valerie, I am 68 years old and am uniquely qualified to make the statement that you save someone every time you share this HUGE stuff. Although I love myself now, it took a LONG time to get here. Being born in 1956, I come from a generation that considered it shameful to talk about the feelings and thoughts that people like us experience. If we were easily understood we would be envied because we live Life at one of deepest levels possible. Your art is a gift to all, but the sharing of your humanity is the gift of validation to people like us who live through the hell of sometimes feeling way too much. It’s so beautiful when all is said and done, and we both know we wouldn’t change a thing about it. Namaste.

Your rantings and pain are psychologically valid, Miss Valerie. But it's beautiful that you have this healthy mindset and behavioural response to such bad experience. Turning negative thoughts into positive creation like paintings and videography. In Psychology, as a psychology student myself, I think what you did there is called a Freudian's Defense Mechanism: Sublimation. It's a defense mechanism where you channel your negative energy to a form of behaviour that results a positive or at least harmless action. It's the healthiest form of defense mechanism. This mechanism measures how matured a person's mentality is, and it's just so inspiring to see a person like you bravely share this testimonies to the world (at least in YouTube community). High respect to you. God bless you, Miss!

Don’t jump into getting an animal until you feel better. Regardless of people saying cats or whatever animal are low maintenance, they do actually require a lot of care, time, and energy and it seems like you need to focus on healing and resting yourself right now. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and I hope you feel better

Self care is SO important, sweet girl. When I was going through my divorce, there were days where I had complete breakdowns, panic attacks and I gained a lot of weight. I couldn’t sleep. I was scared for my future, and I felt so betrayed. My health suffered tremendously for a while. But I went to the doctor, began seeing a new therapist and also began working out five days a week. I also began painting after work every day, making a practice of at least 15 minutes but it usually turned into hours. Day by day, I began to get better. I checked in regularly with my doctor and continued weekly therapy. I made friends at the gym. I made a point of not letting the sadness and things going on outside my control dictate things that bring me joy. Day by day, things got better. Remember, these moments in your life are temporary. You will look back someday and see the tremendous growth during this time. Keep going. You’ve got this

I cried when I saw you crying, and felt a need to comfort you somehow, but at the same time I truly understand the need to feel all the feelings and how all of this helps us grow and evolve. I can only appreciate your raw honesty and wish your soul the recovery it needs. Sending you much love, Valerie 🖤

I really enjoy how genuine this video felt. You allowed a bunch of strangers see you cry and struggle and still paint. I admire that about you. Plus being on your period on-top of all of that is a lot - I’ve been there. Keep making videos please!

maybe an idea for a pet is just go to the animal shelter, and ask what cat has been there the longest (and maybe get that one if the kitty likes you). these balls of happiness deserve it :D

I lost my mum a few month ago to cancer. I'm 30 she was 55. I see myself so much in you, you give me courage and inspiration. I hope the pain will go and make you stronger. I love your paintings, you are a shooting star. PS. I allow myself to cry when I clean, i find it so therapeutic.

I’m watching this while crying so I know this is going to be good for me 💕 thank you Valerie, let’s evolve together 🤍

And most importantly. When we are aware how we see ourselves, we can hold that up to the light of God’s truth and ask for His view. He can bring healing to trauma and truth to falsehoods.

Thanks Valerie for this REAL video, I think all of us can relate. Six months ago I got myself a little kitten en this has changed my life. A cat requires so little and has such a calming effect on me. Lots of love from Namibia, Africa!

I can tell from myself - a pet will motivate you! I was at my lowest for some time in life when I first moved out. My crying stopped in the moment when I took a cat from local foundation. I think we just helped each other in life.

We don't need to have or be anything at this moment. Finding answers to life is like painting a picture, it starts out with a plan, then a sketch, all the materials and then you just start and implement and adapt as you move along, sometimes you want to give up when the white spaces are too big, and you know mentally, that you would inevitably need to fill those gaps, but then you start seeing it come together, it happens suddenly and you feel like yes, I am more confident now, your strokes will be stronger and fluid and you will push through, till you know its done, in your gut. Then you just need to sign your name on it, cause it was an image that didn't exist before but now it does from you and your effort. You are happy and exhausted that it's over, you rest until inspiration hits you again. Life mirrors art sometimes or so i'd like to believe. 💛

Go for a cat! A cat is a great studio companion; no need to walk it, it's quiet (overall), can do it's own thing for hours on end or be an amazing cuddling companion when you need it. Cat's are quite good at reading your mood as well and their curious nature might lead them to watch you as you paint. Best emotional support pet if you ask me with their calming nature and the purring is just soothing.
thanks for sharing your vulnerable and strong sides in this video, kinda needed that today. I love the girlpower vibe you've got going on and the 'i don't care what anybody says about me' attitude.

You will get through this and you are not alone. Heartbreak changes you because you loved deeply and that is a beautiful thing.
