it probably does help, as it gives your hands exercise with movements and positions very different from using a keyboard/mouse. I've had RSI in my right hand for over half a decade after playing games a lot; pain mostly surfaced from holding a mouse button, but would also appear doing other activities of everyday life. This year I picked up speedcubing as a time waster (needed a thing that engages the brain a bit to help with attention span/focus issues) and went for walks regularly while the weater was nice during the summer and my RSI is basically gone now. Apparently stuff like posture are important too, I finally got a new chair (IKEA Markus, can definitely recommend) to replace my decade old cheap office chair, so that might also be related :)

Oh hell yes, when I used to play 360, I used a chatpad, and both my pinkys and ring fingers on both hands would start to burn and go completely numb. No chatpad, no problem. Weirdest thing.

Yes.

Switched out for a trackball and split ergo keyboard - instantly went away.

I use computer since windows 95, I never had too, intensive use for long years, I'm 26. But it's different using cell phone to type, so much. When I type for long time in cell phone sometimes I feel some pain.

My ring and punky fingers get numb a ton, but mine definitely comes mostly from my posture. Plus I can't help leaning forward while I work and killing my back. Argh

You need to increase your physical activity. Try doing martial arts tandems/arms stretching before workouts (aikido, wrestling). Trust me RSI will become a thing of the past.
