Yes! Free/cheap hobbies are the key to being happy and saving money. Gardening, hiking, biking, doing puzzles...

Yes, lets have some fun! Being with my favorite people is on the top of the list, followed by, in no special order, taking a walk in the wild, swimming in natural bodies of water, playing board games, watching movies, and teaching a skill to someone. All of these things are free, so it's a double bonus.

Good topic Nina.
Things I enjoyed as a child:
Interacting with others, coloring, organizing/sorting, serving others (i would pretend i was a waitress), long walks, RV travel, facilitating.
All still true today. : )
This thinking helps you see the common threads that are woven in your life today.
I like watching Gretchen Rubin's YT videos but haven't read her book yet.

I loved picnics outdoors with my family when I was young! We never do that anymore, and its sth that I have been thinking since last year. I will definitely arrange picnics when the weather gets a bit warmer...looking forward to it. Thanks Nina for the video!

Your videos brings me so much joy and also alot of interesting things to think about. As a child, I loved being creative, being outdoors (especially around animals and climbing trees), swim in the lakes, reading, meet my friends and go to school. When seeing this list I understand that I still love these things (except going to school😁) but I don't do enough of. Thank you for this, it has given me alot to think of.

I still color. I find it relaxing. Playing music has always been a big part of my life - so whether cleaning my home, driving or showering, I must 🎤 & 💃🏽

Honestly when you said to think about what you did as a 10 year old, the first thing i thought of was thati played a lot of the Sims! and if i had time i would happily still play Sims all day! But i'm also taking more time for reading instead of scrolling through facebook when bored, the weather is getting better in the UK so walking and exploring outside is seeming more appealing! Great video :)

I loved martial arts when I was little even though i had no formal training. As i grew up I actually started to train and had a natural talent, I became a multiple national and European champion in Shaolin kung fu and Wushu and travelled the world competing for my country. I have not done any martial arts for nearly 13 years but for some reason I have just thought about starting again and this vid gave me a nudge. Many thanks

As a tip maybe: At least in Vienna there a places where they have a large collection of board games. Everybody can go there, the entrance is around three dollars and you can play all the different games the hole evening/night. Great fun to try out new games without buying them.

When I first heard of veganism I thought what does a vegan eat? I've always enjoyed being in the kitchen and cooking so discovering vegan channels on YouTube has reignited the joy I've always had from cooking. Home cooking a plant based diet has also been a great savings and improved my health. I also ride my bike mostly for transportation which Is much better than being stuck in a car in traffic.

I totally got your video! It's about putting your money where your heart is. I personally enjoy doing things that cultivate my mind and spirit. The problem is that encompasses a great many things- so in my I have to really be careful to make certain I don't go hog wild doing everything that I love because I'd ends up broke. I try to do the things that are very inexpensive or free frequently and the things that require money become "treats". Hope that makes sense! Great video again!

I am from Montana, and have never been to New York. But, this summer I will be living in Manhattan. I would love to know some of the places you hike. I used to go hiking all the time as a kid, and love it to this day.

I think this is a very interesting topic because I feel that society expect us to enjoy the same activities, especially if you have to pay for them. As a result, we often forget that there are other ways of having fun.
Some things that I have been enjoying since I was a kid are painting, reading, playing board games, dancing, climbing and riding my bike. I do invest some money into these activities: I have to pay for the art materials and for my dancing lessons. And, as an adult, I really enjoy going to the theatre, clubbing and eating outside.
I think that clubbing is kind of an acquired taste to me because I remember I hated it at the beginning. I felt really stressed out surrounded by so many people and listening to the loud music. However, as some of my friends liked it I started going to clubs more often and I like it now. Has this happened to somebody else?
