The stuffed rice noodle dish is called "cheung fun" in Chinese. It could be filled with shrimp, beef, chasiu or vegetarian. The baked pineapple bun got its name b/c the top streusal like crust resembles the shell of a pineapple. The traditional type has no filling at all, but nowadays you can get it filled with egg custard like what you had (still no pineapple), ube (purple yam) and other sweet fillings. Some dim sum places also do a savory version with chasiu. It's like the baked chasiu bao but with a streusal topping. In Hong Kong, they serve it plain or cut in half like a sandwich and stuffed with a thick wedge of butter, or with ham and egg.

Orchid Gardens is our default dim sum here in Vegas. We used to go to another dim sum before the city codes cut out all indoor dining smoking. I'm glad Vegas said, "Enough, " with the smoking inside restaurants, but it was already too late. We are Orchid Gardens junkies. Thanks, Dan!

Pineapple buns usually don't have any pineapple. It's named after the outer crust which looks like a pineapple.

Orchid’s Garden is our go to dimsum place whenever we visit vegas unfortunately they were just on dirty dining. Will definitely try the one in rio and hongkong garden. I also hear good things about ping pang pong. Thanks again Dan for this very informative dimsum food vlog.

You forgot to go across the street from the Rio and try Ping Pang Pong inside the Gold Coast Casino. That place has the best pineapple bun with the salted egg custard filling, which is savory and sweet.

I LOVE dim sum! My favs are the steamed shrimp rice rolls with sweet soy sauce, pan fried turnip cake with hoisin sauce, and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf. For dessert, definitely those pineapple buns filled with custard, almond tofu, and mango pudding. Thanks for sharing and for getting everyone hungry lol.
