Making FROZEN YOGURT with the CUISINART ICE-21C ICE CREAM MAKER | Quest for the Best

Frozen Yogurt is one of the seemingly unachievable things in the frozen dessert world. Surprisingly, it’s more than just taking yogurt and freezing it! In this episode of Quest for the Best, I try to recreate the frozen yogurt from my favourite childhood establishment, the beloved, Richmond-institution, Timothy’s. Using the Cuisinart ICE-21C as my ice creamer of choice, I experimented a little bit with the frozen yogurt mix and tried to find a way to make it at home.

Happy eating,
- Ajay

You got it there! So well done! I guess adding any fruit earlier like you do with regular ice cream would add too much water and make it way too icy. Next time I travel to Richmond, I'm hitting Timothy's! Thanks for this Ajay! Great video!

I think you should try to process the food and then incorporate it in the frozen yougurt mix while still in the cusinart machine

Just got one of these machines. Thanks for the ice cream videos. I wonder if blending the frozen fruit in with the soft frozen yogurt out of the cuisinart would freeze it to a good consistency.
Also could experiment with blending the hard frozen yogurt with a little more yogurt or cream with the fruit. Thanks for the inspiration.

Making a fruit compote and adding it at the initial making of the frozen yogurt might work.

Looks so good! Question: do you think it would work if you just dropped all of the ingredients straight into the ice cream maker without premixing them? Would the machine do the mixing for you?

I'm going to use my electric food chopper with some of the yoghurt/cream mixture to get the fruit chopped up and juice extracted, then add it all together into the ice cream maker. I think doing it after the yoghurt is frozen won't get the flavour blended very thoroughly. I also think that if you are going to use frozen fruit it would be best to let it thaw partially. Thanks for the video.

The vitamix needs to be on high to avoid overheating! I’ve done this and it gets the job done in about 30 seconds. You also need to put enough in that the blades have something to grab onto. Work it up to high speed and tamp like crazy and you’ll get what you’re looking for without burning out the motor.

Hi, Hello, I am from northern Mexico, we have mango in a short season of the year, from mid-July to mid-September, it is one of the best things that makes it worth it to endure the summer heat, almost 50 degrees.
So we always freeze the mango due to the short season and save it, so we can use it to make refresh waters, for smoothies with milk it is delicious and the mango provides an extra creamy sensation, but it needs to be enough. Even we make mangoneada, it's just mango in a blender with chili and pieces of tamarind, delicious.

I recently bought this machine, I'm going to try it.
I would like to make chai tea ice cream, rice pudding, mint and chocolate, mocha, traditional Mexican chocolate, atoles, etc.

Thank you for share your experience!!!

Hey boss man, you might want to look up stabilizers, and it's always advisable to let your Frozen ice cream sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving it.

Should have used the silicone ice cube trays

Seems like the problem with frozen yogurt, is that you have to make ice cream for it to freeze right.
