During the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Jesse Owens was warmly received by both the German crowd and Adolf Hitler. W. E. B. Du Bois also found no evidence of racial hatred towards blacks from the National Socialists during his visit to Germany in the 1930s.

While I like talking about controversial things, I see some mixed comments and that's understandable. This video is about sharing important stories that many people don’t know about. Big news and history often ignore these stories. This video doesn’t support Hitler or Nazi ideology. It just wants to show that these topics are more complicated than people think. I hope this clears things up a bit.

"According to most news and historians Hitler was a racist"
Hard hitting journalism right there

I was born and raised in Germany until 14. From 14-43 I’ve lived in the USA. In my 43 years, the only racism I’ve ever experienced was here in the USA. Every time I go back home, they treat me like I’m equal. It’s so sad

Heard this story many times. Owens was treated well in Germany and awful when he returned home.

Like Ali said, why go to war and fight for a country that hates me. I need to stay here and fight y'all. That was classic.

Hitler thought in terms of human Darwinism. He thought Black people were lower but good strong workers, whereas Jewish people he thought were competing for the same superior position as Aryans and therefore a threat. The racism is wholly different to the racism of the US.

He said he had an unforgettable, amazing time in Germany, and that they were very fond of him everywhere he went.

I am German. My grandparent were teens when the Olympic games took place. I asked them, whom they remembered out of all the sportsmen, and to my surprise they both named Jesse Owens.

I'm from South Africa. I met a black elder from America, Chicago to be exact. During our conversation i asked how long he was planning on staying here unc said he ain't planning on going back to the states at his old age he's just tired of getting stopped by the police all the time😪

apologies for my bad grammar if any, English is not my first language 😅🙇🏾‍♂️

Sounds about right. We’re considered American everywhere except America.

Wow, that's really is fucked up. He said he was treated better as a black foreigner in NAZI GERMANY, than he was in his own country where he was born and raised. The great (or not so great) USA, must be so proud.

Funny how the bad guys treated him like an actual human being while the supposed good guys treated him like he's a gum stuck at the heel of their shoe 😂😂

I'm not supporting what the Germans did back in the war but I just find it funny.

Jesse Owens even had a German friend called Luz Long. It's a very sweet, wholesome and inspirational story.
