As a kid, I always just assumed “activist” was the term for a politician who failed to get elected.

My Dad told me that when you are young you have a tendency to lean left because of your heart but when you are older you tend to lean right because you are using your brain.

The key is learning humility.
It takes an incredibly large ego to think that you alone can change the world and its the mindset of a child.
Being humbled by life knocks that out of you real fast if you're smart enough.

Talked to some people today at my uni and realized that it’s mostly American youth that is proud to be an “activist”, they do it not realizing the consequences.

I’m British and none of my British friends really like activism because it’s just annoying. I can sign a petition or donate money to a cause but i’m not about to go out and ruin someone’s day.

Especially with vandalism of art and self sabotage like supergluing yourself to things. I think it’s tacky, violent and shows you have no self respect or any respect; if you do something, do it with grace and stop acting like animals when you protest. When was violence ever the right decision.

I think a lot of young people like the idea of “the hero’s journey”. They want to be the hero in life that they see on their favorite show, or the next MLK, or Ghandhi, or Harriet Tubman. So then they try to find some kind of “evil” in the world to fight, and sometimes they make the mistake of finding evil in simple political disagreements.

I was hard core stuck in the left for a very long time. It's woman like you and Brett who have helped clear that fog for me :)
I actively work to understand the world instead of control it and it's honeslty so peaceful to have that mindset.

Moaning in groups with signs. Can't blame them though.
How do you change things?
Where is the accountability?

My moment was when a girl I was seeing said that Jordan Peterson freedom of speech was/is a guise for hate speech.
This was back in 2015/16 when he made a stand against compelled speech, Bill c16, I believe.

You want to bring positive change to the world, you become a productive, hard-working citizen.

I've worked with a few people who demanded that everyone use proper pronouns because it was respectful towards everyone. I once asked the manager and 3 employees who demanded this that if someone requested a day off or specific language due to a religious holiday if they would respect that. I will never forget their response. " no!, we don't believe in religion so it's not fair to us". I responded with " well, you expect everyone to accommodate your way of living what's the difference". I was told " we are right, and they are wrong, they need to realize that and we are helping them by making them not celebrate their wrong beliefs ". it's a cult and the only way to combat it is to do what I did. I got everyone but the woke people to quit and the business went under. don't give them an inch. they see cancer and should be treated as such.

I mean, there are bad people making the world worse, but “activists” don’t actually do anything about it

Great interview, Amala!
The full interview for those who haven't seen it - youtu.be/m281h5wZLb4

Also nice to see that you got an extra 12k subs since your interview with Jordan 3 days ago. Hope that spike continues. I know you'll definitely hit a million, hopefully 2 million by the end of 2023.

Maybe Steven Crowder and Joe Rogan next?

That's exactly how I feel I've met so many "activists" who are just scared and want to be heard but don't know who to trust so I feel for some

Dharma was such a profound concept to me. Dharma is exactly (well as I understand it, anyway) as Amala said "find your place in the world and trying to understand it."
We all know Karma, it's talked about ad nauseum in new age and Pagan circle, but Dharma the sister concept is rarely ever broached.
It's been a hard road from wanting to rule the world to letting it be and figuring out what needs fixing, and if it needs fixing then how do we do it in a way that is beneficial for everyone, while still respecting everyone.
It's easy to be an activist, it's harder to be a judicious and responsible community member that balances the needs of the community over the needs of a particular group, or even yourself. Most activists are just concerned what's right for the cause at the expense of everyone and everything else; especially political activists.

Delusions of grandeur creep in to young minds, when around you are like minded voices. Escape is the only answer.

Early life
Edit

Rubin was born in June 1976 in Brooklyn, New York.[5] He grew up in a "fairly secular Jewish household on Long Island".[6] He spent his adolescence in Syosset, New York, and then he resided on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for thirteen years.[7] He attended Binghamton University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science.[8] In 1997, he also spent a semester at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheba, Israel.[9]

Back in the day, activist was the correct word. It was good, equality wanting people. Now, in extremism.
