Want to install Arch Linux the easy way? This tutorial walks you through installing Arch Linux with archinstall step by step! Plus, I’ll show you how to optimize it for NVIDIA users, install essential gaming tools like Steam, Lutris, and Proton, and set up a firewall (UFW) for security.

🔥 What You’ll Learn:
✅ Install Arch Linux using archinstall (the easy way!)
✅ Optimize Arch for NVIDIA (Kernel mode, power profiles, and more)
✅ Set up a firewall with UFW for better security
✅ Install Steam & enable Proton to play Windows games
✅ Use Lutris to run Ubisoft, EA, and Epic Games on Linux
✅ Install yay (AUR Helper) to easily install extra software
✅ Optimize performance with Gamemode for the best gaming experience

1. Navigate to /boot/loader/entries and edit the appropriate .conf file.
Put this at the end (This is all you need!):

[Trigger]

Target=nvidia
Target=nvidia-open CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE
Target=nvidia-lts
# # If running a different kernel, modify below to match
Target=linux

[Action]
Description=Updating NVIDIA module in initcpio
Depends=mkinitcpio
When=PostTransaction
NeedsTargets
Exec=/bin/sh -c 'while read -r trg; do case $trg in linux*) exit 0; esac; done; /usr/bin/mkinitcpio -P'

7:30 As a noob with minimum tech knowledge and minimum linux knowledge, I'm not so sure which one should i choose for my gtx 1660s.
As i understand, you meant choose new turing+ for gpu, but 1660s not so much new and not so much old either. Searched up and seem Gtx 1660s also has Turing architecture.
So may i ask your choice for 1660s?

If I have a laptop with an Nvidia GPU and a built-in Intel Iris GPU, what should I choose on ArchInstall?
Thanks for the video!

If you're using the new open kernel modules you don't need the modeset kernel parameter, Nvidia includes it. If you're still using the old proprietary modules (Nvidia says you shouldn't) then you would still need it.

There is no optimized when installing Arch, I run Arch BTW. It comes that way. Yeah, we use it every day. But you know what, if you have never installed it the way that will teach you, you should. Every hardware system has a lil bit of its own nuance. Also how you want to boot and run partitions. So many options and only so many right choices that will actually boot. So i love the archinstall script as much as the next person, saving 20 min and making it 5. But if you have no experience it can just not boot too. I am just saying claiming to optimize anything is laughable. If anything you should be spreading the basics in Linux security. Cause Arch comes without a firewall. That is important to fix. Also if you have ever got on the Linux CVE list then you know they work on 30-40 a week. Patching them and also disproving them. We can at least know for our own good. No proprietary walls keeping those from us. It not like windows when you just breath on a website and you blue screening like a smurf. But yeah. Better more serious content for Arch please, the influx of newbies need that more.
