Fyi when I mean deleting social media, I obviously mean apps like Snapchat, Instagram, ticktok etc.

Mainly due to excessive consumption and mindless scrolling. The reason I’ve kept YouTube is simply not for consumption purposes but instead for producing of content. Having a channel and engaging in creating content has allowed me to use that spare time into something more productive. This why I don’t treat YouTube as a social media.

Studies actually show that Social media actually *makes people feel more lonely* than they would feel without it.

I’m working part time as a high school student and in those moments between tasks, it’s hard not to reach for my phone, just to have some escape. I really value this push to delete social media because it forces those moments in between where you think, “what is all of this for?” Getting a job was, as you said, the “puzzle piece” I put in the place of social media. I’m still lonely, but since I deleted most of my socials months ago and Snapchat just recently, I’ve almost become a different person, and I wouldn’t trade that for comfort. Anyway, I know I’m a bit late to the video, but I appreciate the mindset.

I acutally developed fomo cuz of social media, so I am okay with cutting it off, the most important people have my number.

I quit completely too. You miss it for a week or two and then you realise the whole world is a fortnight away from breaking its social media addiction forever. I feel like I’ve stumbled across a secret everyone should know. Sadly 95% of people will never break free and it’s really sad. I want them back.

I deleted all my social media three weeks ago - definitely felt the void the first seven days. Filled the time with reading, the gym as you say, and journaling/writing which I enjoy again. Good video, new habits helped tremendously

Hey brother, it's me again. Not sure if you remember and that's alright, life is full of people. Been off of social media for probably well over a month now and haven't felt the struggles from it. Honestly, it's been lonely for the last 4 months anyways and it's a struggle to find genuine wholehearted friends within your teenage years--especially living in a very small town. Loneliness is a real struggle and a crippling feeling mentally. However, being off of social media has always been the rational decision for me despite everyone surrounding you being infected by it in some sense and it's disappointing but if they enjoy it in the moment, let them enjoy it!? Not really sure. Thanks for your video once again, just thought I would jump in and remind you that there is still a small audience (someone like me) who watches these from time to time and can resonate with some of your ideals.
Much love.

I am the only one in my environment who is off social medias. It feels weird most of the times. But since i feel better that way, then for me that's what matters the most.

The thing is that we all use social medias, video games, bad habits and even the gym to fill up the void inside us but it's just a facade, just a cover of nothingness and when you decide to shift your point of view, to distract yourself less and less and stay alone with your thoughts, that's when you see the void in yourself and that's f*cking unconfortable but that's the only way to know really who you are. The beauty in the lonelyness is pretty ugly but I try to accept it as a new way to reborn myself...

so true man. whenever were bored we would just default to scrolling on social media but now that we have been without it and allow ourselves to be bored for once our brain finds ways to fill that boredom and we are more willing to do other things and make real social connections instead of just sending memes 🤣

I've been on and off social media for years now, sort of love-hate relationship with it. And yesterday was the first day where I suddenly realise how lonely I feel when the luls in my day are not filled with content consuming. I actually realized how little people I have irl I can reach out to to feel a connection. And that feeling was new and terrifying. I never thought it would be so scary for me, because everyone who quites social media always only talks about how amazing it is and how they feel free and peaceful. And I just felt dread. So I'm here seeing if anyone also feels that way...

I deleted social media couple weeks ago, i wasn't on tiktok anyways, but i was a heavy consumer of instagram. I now only use youtube as a search engine. I realised that i was always distracted with something. At first i thought that deleting social media will grant me enough time to do the things i like, and now that i have so much time on my hands...i dont know what to do. I mean, i do read more than i used to and i do have time to draw more now.
But other than that..there isn't much i can do. I can't meet my friends anytime i like because of how expensive things have gotten. And I'm a person who enjoys being by myself but recently it's been a little unbearable.
I believe that's just because I've been constantly distracting myself with my phone.
I'm glad i deleted social media, i can now see how i can fill in my day with stuff more fun and useful.

Crazy how this gets recommended LITERALLY the first thing after I upload a video about being alone (and somewhat lonely on occasions).

The most important takeaway from the video—imo—is definitely filling the void with healthy habits. For me my time hasn't even been allocated to one specific thing, yet the quality of life has drastically improved. Short-form content consumption and "meaningless" social media is just pure dumb honestly: FOMO, wasting time, etc. Once you get away from it, there's no going back. I already had decent habits before quitting social media, I just got more time to the respective ones after deleting it.

Great video.

Totally agree. First of all, to even come up with the idea of deleting social media you must've been looking for ways to free up time and dedicate to whatever you are doing. You are already on a good path. Since i deleted social media, I have full dedication from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed it is 100% productive work. I don't stop for social media breaks or anything. Since November 2022 until now May 2023, I haven't missed one day of cold showers, one workout, one day of not watching my course, one day of reading. Everything is set because I have a lot more time. Set BIG goals, and go for them. It doesn't really matter if you achieve everything you wanted, think about it, would you like to say you didn't achieve your goal of making $10.000 a month, or you didn't achieve your goal of making $100.000 a month, I personally like saying the second one. So if I focus on making 100k a month, then i could maybe reach a limit at 20, 40, 60k or whatever I will surpass the 10k mark and go for as much as possible.

You showed up in my YouTube feed after I made the decision to back away from my social media use. I believe I searched the topic and there was your video. I saved this in my watch later and today i have listened 3xs. Your story telling and thoughts are well organized and I appreciate your topic. You have really summed up the social media experience well. YouTube is my first love then Insta but I am going to make videos on the subjects I have watched on YouTube over the past ten years, , that I've tried and used that changed my life. I am really close to being social media free.. You have inspired this over 50 year old💪 💖

bro your channel is really cool. i think in future, when you blow up (which seems inevitable) you could have someone sitting in the passenger seat talking with you, maybe have interviews or debates or discussion. there’s a lot of room for getting more stuff out there!! keep up the solid work, man 👑
