I loved this video and all 7 suggestions. We have a small group of 4 guys who run together almost every afternoon right after work. We are me the oldest at 66, the others are 65, 60, and 53. We call ourselves Los Caballos Viejos- the old horses. One thing we do after almost every run is have a beer or non alcoholic beverage together for a short period of time. Lots of fun. And we mix it up with different kinds of runs and mostly on a trail in a forest. Hoping to continue for at least 20 more years. Thanks for all your delightful videos. Merry Christmas from Greensboro, North Carolina.

I honestly just can't run. It hurts my joints so bad. Lifting weights is my enjoyment. I fully admire your commitment to something you love. So while I'm not here looking to get into running I am here in admiration

Thanks, Göran! After running consistently for five years, I’ve really fallen out of love with it, but still want to do it once per week to maintain a bit of fitness whilst I focus on gym work instead. I’m running tomorrow morning at parkrun and this has really helped get my head right in preparation.

The tip of running slower will give a try. Currently a little down on running motivation. Hopefully will help me reconnect. Thanks for the video

I recently saw a clip with Andrew Huberman about motivation and dopamine. According to a study the dopamine given by an activity Is lower when you focus on the reward instead of the activity itself. You can re wire your brain to reward you for doing hard things, like running, lifting weights or studying. For me the keys to enjoying running and why I run in the first place is to practice enjoying hard things and discomfort instead of avoiding it.

That drone following all the way through the segment is just so cool!

#4 is a must in my runs. I live next door to a park and trail and I make use of these as long as it does not snow in New England. I forgot to mention, I do the last quarter of my runs as fast as I can...I love it!

Great running up the hill👍 on an icy road! I found the idea of small goals when running gets hard helpful. I've never thought that way. Thanks for the tips Göran, beautiful video

Running since 1984 and not many my age to run with, and Im used to running alone, but in this crowded world we are never truly alone . Park Ranger, John the Skater, Jamaican cyclist who we high 5 each other when we pass, so many people I see and cheer on as they walk, jog, bike . And many times my friends on the trail are more important than my run, that I will stop and chat, then start my run again . Never alone

Thank you for your video! I’m training for my first ultra and LOVE running plus following amazing athletes like you! I will look into that amazing camera for my running YouTube channel, right now I use my iPhone 😂. Pretty newbie-basic.

I do run with my dogs those are amazing companions in the woods as well!!! They are my little wolf pack.

Anyway happy new year and many blessings!

Hi Göran, yesterday I ran my first 5k! (Actually 6, 3km, because my runkeeper app wasn’t working properly, so switched to strava after 1km, but then I wanted to have my first 5km run in the app 😅🙈)

I am very proud of myself, but wanted to send you a message! Because of your videos on YouTube I began to see the joy of running and really got in to it! So I guess, thank you! 🤗🚀

For me, I often choose different routes for my runs so i dont end up in stereotype. Choosing trails over asphalt is always preferred - this also keeps it interesting. I also consider using headphones "cheating", hehe, because being with yourself during those tough session where you just dont wanna do it is really what makes you more resilient. I now can say that I am at the situation, where I can enjoy running. My body is kinda shaped for it now. When I started to run, I have always pushed too hard, didnt rest enough, ran through knee pains, shin splints etc. which is never good. I was begging for pain to go away so I can run more - person really need to alter the mindset about this. Consistency, slower paces and paying attention to technique to avoid injuries - thats the key. Good luck to everyone who is trying to keep themselves in shape and disciplined.

Congrats on the crown! Great video! I have race buddies, but no training buddies. I'm determined to work on my speed this year, which is what holds me back from trying to run with others. I absolutely love the trails, and get zero enjoyment from the roads now. When I feel my motivation flagging- which happens a lot with such a hectic schedule and poor sleep- I go out on a nearby 5k loop up and over a little mountain. It's fun, technical, and lovely. I wear the watch but ignore it, and just run how it feels best. I think it's time to do that again, winter and work has sucked the motivation right out of me!

I love running trails, but not on dark winter mornings. After a few bad falls, it became quite stressful and I found I was looking at the floor the whole time scanning for trip hazards.
