In this video, I go over a new research article titled "Injury Patterns, Risk Factors, and Return to Sport in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: A Cross-sectional Survey of 1140 Athletes" by Maximilian Hinz, MD, Benjamin D. Kleim, MD, Daniel P. Berthold, MD, Daniel P. Berthold.

I review the results, my interpretation of what the findings mean, and some ideas on what to be aware of regarding injuries when training Jiu-Jitsu.

It seems like takedowns are over represented relative to their training frequency in most schools

Age and belt: it's also a confound that it's a three year study (I assume ~now and 3 year to now) and white belts most likely wont have 3 years, it's unclear if this is current practitioners or a bunch of people including people who had to quit due to injury, mat time probably isn't strictly defined, and time at belt isn't consistent.

Hey man! Thanks for the work you do! I had rear mount with my legs crossed against Uki yesterday. He did sort of a belly roll and I tried to hold on. Then I felt/heard a pop in my lateral knee. This morning, walking is somewhat difficult and my knee hurts when flexed and especially if I lock my feet together and then try to internally rotate my knee. I don't have access to really good physios in my part of the world and I'm wondering if I can use kneesovertoesguy's program as rehab for the knee. What do you think? Is there any way you could help, or suggestions I can try, please?
