Ever find yourself trapped in a whirlwind of thoughts?

Here are three of the most common types of Overthinking I’ve come across:
THE ‘FLAWLESS SEEKER’
Perfectionism is your trap. Your high standards prevent you from taking action.

👉What to do? Remind yourself that ‘done’ is better than ‘perfect’. If you’re struggling with a particular task (e.g. rewriting emails), give yourself a limit and stick to it.

THE CHOICE CHAMELEON
Whether it's picking tonight's dinner or making a life-altering decision, the vastness of choices overwhelms you.

👉What to do? Narrow down choices to the two top options and flip a coin! Pay attention to your gut reaction. Relieved? Excited? Disappointed? Your initial emotional response is a window into what you truly want.

THE ECHO CHAMBER
You replay events and conversations over and over, keeping you up at night.

👉What to do? Try the 'Tomorrow Box' technique and free your mind. Write down the thought that’s occupying your mind, put it in your symbolic ‘Tomorrow Box’, and pledge to only revisit it tomorrow. You’ll likely find that with fresh eyes and a rested mind that once-monumental worry now seems trivial, or completely forgotten.

I used to use a similar technique to 'tomorrow box' for focused study sessions by writing my intrusive thoughts on a sticky note to think later after my study sessions. Will definitely try 'tomorrow box' for my overthinking!

Now I’m overthinking which of the 2 options I’m going to designate as heads for the coin flip… because you tend to get heads more often which means that whatever I choose to be heads is more likely to happen so then I still have to pick a subconscious preference between the 2 🧠😶‍🌫️

All of them! That's a lot of overthinking! I have found some relief by questioning when I first started a process. When I see where it came from, how I benefited in the past given the inflexible conditions at that time, I can upgrade based on the environment (more flexible) I'm in now.

All my options are in the tomorrow box. Every morning i go to open it but it says "Tomorrow" so leave it for tomorrow 😂😂

All the 3 but the last one is more prominent..
I repeat the critical remarks of others in my head over and over again until I feel numb.. and start hating myself. I feel exhausted!!

I'm kind of all three.

That first is definitely me in the recording studio. (Actually trying to get myself to release a new song now.)

The second one is me when I buy anything. I regret buying the one I did and wonder if I shoulda bought the other one, then eventually becoming kind of ok with my purchase.

Third one. Virtually all day every day. Then my brain likes to think of how future interactions will go with that person and anyone else that could possibly be involved.

It's exhausting.

All 3 !! And you know what, my tomorrow box had exploded and what I had put aside yesterday, it's still stewing in my head, and Oh! Last year's thoughts aren't done yet, plus where's the box for all the possible horrible things that can happen in future?!

4th type of overthinker : deep thinker or analyser.
This type of thinkers are actually a truth seeker (as they are curious).
These traits are usually found in philosopher, scientist, or any other type of curious person.
