I didn't take an oath to protect democracy from domestic enemies, I took an oath to protect our republic from demoestic enemies. We don't have to worry about foreign enemies, we have enough in congress to worry about.

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers, who also defined democracy as: "two wolves and a sheep voting on what they would have for dinner!" I believe that roughly what he said, and it is so appropriate.

It's definitely a Republic, but there's a lot of folks out there who have never even learned this. I blame the education system for this failure - it's by design. The Pledge of Allegiance is now widely ignored in schools, but as a child I/we recited it every morning to an American flag in the classroom. Now the flag is a rainbow! 😡

Speaking of "free public education", in the parent comment section of my step daughter's high school course syllabus of American History the teacher stated that they would be studying how "our democracy was founded and how it works". I had to remind her we do not live in a democracy but a constitutional representative republic. She apologized. Amazing is it not? These people are educating your children. Home school if you can do it and this is coming from a teacher be it a vocational education teacher.

In a democracy, if 51% vote to take my bike, they get it. In a Republic, I, the individual, am protected from the majority.
