But coming to the point, a surprising number of people do not understand the difference between a republic and a democracy, and yet India calls itself a democratic republic. Let's explore these two concepts and get rid of any misconceptions that we have been carrying so far.

This is an amazing and eloquent lecture. I am from the United States which is technically a federal republic. I hope kids in our schools receive this kind of instruction. This video sums up in 14 minutes what most teachers try to present for a whole semester. I am going to share this video a lot. Initially by looking at the image of the video with the blackboard and chalk, I thought that it would dull or boring but surprisingly it was full of enthusiasm by the teacher.

Please also explain the horizontal and vertical hierarchy. Vertically is self understood but horizontal isn't.
