Can EmuFlight fix my mid throttle oscillation quad

But here's the question we're tackling today. How does EmuFlight fly! This quadcopter has had problems with mid-throttle oscillations and bad propwash handling. So let's see if EmuFlight can fix my mid-throttle oscillation quad!

i personally LOVE emuflight and it's easy to setup and tweak... a tribute to both betaflight, butterflight, and emuflight developers. great stuff.

EMUf was WAY Smoother as far as I can tell, way less bobbles, smoother, cleaner sounding.

Joshua, if I learned something from the Betaflight vs Butterflight fights... If anything... Is that:
1°: It's useless to fight over things like that.
2°: There's no "better" firmware in cases like that, there's the one you prefer or works best for the quad in particular.
3°: We need to be more open minded and try everything. Maybe you're going to like one firmware over the other, maybe you're going to run different firmwares in different quads... Doesn't matter. What matters is to fly well and be happy with it. 😊
(The EmuFlight looked good in this quad though.)

"Just One More...." is the bane of our existence and you caught yourself on video doing it. LOL Good to know the best makes that mistake too. I like the EmuFlight setup. It was butter smooth but, seemed a lot looser in the turns and tight corners than BetaFlight. Still, extremely flowing movement like a KISS ESC setup. I have a 95lb Doberman that does goofy stuff like that. Chasing crows and other birds is her favorite. Great Info and Video!!! Thank you.

Sure it did fix it. I think it is a lot cleaner with Emuflight and in sounds much better. I put it on my Mamba and my kwad flies soooo much better now. Thanks for all your videos, I learn something every day. Adolfo from the Dominican Republic

Looked like it handled prop wash a lot better. By the way, Rich (owner of hyperlow) is top notch. He puts his heart and soul into his frames, and it shows. I still think the Hyperlow CG is one of the most well thought out freestyle frames ever put out. Great video.

Stuck watching in 144p...
From what I saw I could see some bobbles on BF & didnt notice them when on Emu....
What was REALLY different was the sound, Emu not only sounded cleaner, but had that occasional mad sound I liken to reality & the laws of physics being ripped a new one similar to how BF sounds when well tuned... ;)

So the thing is, I’ve suffered mid throttle oscillations on my kwad. I disassembled, and built back, with tape beneath motors, soft mounting and stuff, stiffer mounting of VTX and new RX that mounts on top of FC. And it became significantly better. Then I reflashed it with 4.1 and bi-directional Dshot on (that RPM filter stuff). And it became butter smooth. But I never tuned filtering so low. I guess the problem is that with transferring to emu, you lost some of this snappiness, and clean movements betaflight has because of low latency and stuff, gaining smoothness of emu. But my guess is betaflight can perform better or at least same, just with more filtering on.

The freestyle alone was great. Won't say who won. I'm a fan of Betaflight but I would definitely give Emu a try on one of my quads.

one thing is certain, your flying skills have come a long ways. You're killing it! Emu did look better IMO.

there is definitely some oscillation threw out the 4.1 flight. i had to watch it a second time, and its was much more noticeable. i could see it right before you land to adjust your goggles really good also. emu on defaults does seam to fly smoother in the same conditions.

I would like to see if turning dmin off fixes the bobbles as i believe the problem lies in the fact they are trying to be too smart with the dterm and predict when if should be higher or lower but the problem is the dterm does sometimes do a lot to keep a quad flying smooth.


The concept of the rpm filter is faily sound and i think that some of the changes to the pid loop itself are responsible for the bobbles some people are experiencing.

Dogs you got to.love them i had to put mine down last night he was to sick and old sad day here miss my boy . Emu looked pretty good i just put it on one of my quads still have to fly it this one still had a helio on it

Next video put emuflight on your dog, might help him filter between dogs and shadows
