The Norwegian coastal ranger cant be compared with the USMC as a whole, since the USMC is a branch with a lot more capabilities then the Kystjeger (coastal ranger) unit. At best, they can compare with the USMC 1st Rec battalion in terms of mission and training.

The Norwegian Kystjegerkommando is a special unit, though not a special force. To become a Kystjeger you will have to pass a intense and enduring selectioncourse.

The unit is highly professional and respected in the Norwegian Armed Forces, no matter branch.
This unit is also one of the most experienced units in terms of combat, specially in Afghanistan where they also has lost some operators (IED)

The closest comparable unit in the Norwegian Armed Forces, is the Nor Army Fjernoppklaring / Long distance recon unit that is a unit in the Norwegian Intelligence Battalion.

In a combat situation, USMC or the British Royal Marines is capable of conducting high intensity landings with the support of mechanized units in larger scale. The Norwegian «marines» does not have the manpower, resources or scale to conduct this kind of operation. But they are a solid asset within SR and intelligence. I think they would be used to gather intelligence before the «cavalry» deployed, and also J-tac stuff from hidden positions.

Hope this explains a bit about this elite unit.

NCRs= steering the boat & manning the MMGs. US Marines= The "Beenies" with massive backpacks. Norwegians were basically escorting them to a specific mission safely.

It is called a "crash stop". The boat has 2 water jet and when 2 blades are forcing the water backwards.

Fun fact (that may be a duh!) The old british post WW2 backpacks were made by Norwegian company "Bergans" hence the name. Still make kick ass kit actually. Good channel! We used to call the boats "Piglet" because of the blunt bow. Pretty good stuff. The stop is from turning the water jet scoops from pointing forward to backward with the same RPM. As you say, it is nice with a pre warning. Especially if you have some 60-65 lbs of kit on your upper body.

This was a joint exercise here in Norway, the US troops were passengers and Norwegian troops operated the boats. The ones disembarking at the end were the US troops.

My uncle was an amphibious ranger, my father was an airborne ranger. Another relative was an arctic ranger. We have multiple special forces, it does not stop here.

Kystjegerkommandoen (the Royal Norwegian Coastal Rangers) are exactly that: They're an amphibious recon unit that focuses their efforts on defending our coast, both at sea and from the land, and they specialize in asymmetric combat and immediate reaction alert, not to forget about the ISTAR principles. They are among the units that are given the most resources in terms of modern and specialized equipment. For example, they're among very few units in the world that use Hellfires employed from boats or from land (yup, those gnarly things the Apache and Longbow helis use to wreak havoc), as well as the Norwegian-developed Naval Strike Missile (which absolutely shreds ships of any size to pieces).

This the CB90 you have seen in Swedish videos. It has been exported to some other countries. Among others both Norway and the US.

Didn't see a single US Marine in this clip unless they've been borrowing Norwegian gear. The lads disembarking at the end have standard Norwegian setups on their 416's and "standard" Norwegian gear, standard being a relative thing as KJK get a lot of high speed kit regular units never see. If you want to see more of what those craft are capable of try googling "Stridsbåt 90".

You asked for info about the Coastal Rangers (They are basically like a Navy Seals Light version, as rightfully described below in replies, Norwegian MJKs are considered the real answer to SBS or even Navy Seals): Kystjegerkommandoen (KJK: in English "Coastal Ranger Commando") is a Norwegian amphibious unit trained to operate in littoral combat theatres, filling the role of a marine corps and coastal artillery.

The unit was created when it became clear that the coastal fortresses had to be abandoned due to their vulnerability to modern precision guided weapons. This was a gradual development, as the old coastal artillery branch of the Norwegian Armed Forces had been increasingly focusing on mobile operations, and less on coastal fortresses, for many years. With the establishment of the Ranger Command, this transition was complete.

KJK operatives are trained to be highly mobile in the littoral environment, using the Combat Boat 90 and occasionally helicopters. The CB90 is capable of landing troops directly on the shore. Max payload is 16 armed troops, and max speed is 40 knots (74 km/h). Their main weapon against enemy vessels is the AGM-114 Hellfire missile, using a blast-fragmentation warhead. This can easily be carried in the CB90, but will (usually) be launched from ashore, taking advantage of Norway's numerous islands and rugged coast. KJK maintain a strong focus on the ISTAR concept, and train to fight asymmetrical enemy tactics. KJK have trained with allied forces, where their CB90 have been embarked from the Dutch HNLMS Rotterdam LPD and the British HMS Albion. The unit was declared operational 17 August 2005. Home base is at Trondenes, Harstad, North Norway.

International Duties:
In November 2007, a KJK unit assisted a force of Afghan soldiers and their 14 American mentors as they came under a Taliban ambush in Badghis province in Afghanistan. When the Afghan soldiers and their American mentors were headed into an area to apprehend Taliban soldiers and leaders, they were unaware that they were headed into an ambush. The Norwegian soldiers observed this and were able to get through to their American allies on radio and warn them about the danger ahead, guiding them so they could fight themselves out of the situation. The Norwegian soldiers involved received the Army Commendation Medal for their efforts.[1]

In November 2007, KJK took part in Operation Front Straightening to push Taliban out of the Faryab province. During the mission, Norwegian snipers of the Norwegian Army 2nd Battalion hit one of the Taliban insurgents from a distance of 1, 380 metres (4, 530 ft).[2]

The unit has lost three soldiers in combat during the Afghan war.

Norway has several special forces: MJK - Marinejegerkommandoen ( Naval Special Operations Command ), FSK - Forsvaret Spesialkommando ( Special Operations Commando ),   HJK - Hærens Jegerkommando ( Norwegian Army Special forces ), KJK - Kystjegerkommandoen ( Coastal Ranger Command ) and Jegertroppen ( Hunter Troop wich is an all newly established female special forces group. All of them, except the Jegertroppen have in the last 19 years been on and off in Afghanistan )

Those boats have jet drive, so when they need to stop they simply lower a bucket infront of the jet, making all the thrust go forwards

I mean absolutely zero disrespect. You seem like a very genuine and good hearted person, pure class. That being said, your channel pic without the beard, you look like Saddam Hussein a little bit

The boat stops that fast because it has a water jet instead of a propeller :)

So these are the Norwegian "Marines" I saw no US marines in this clip. It may be US troops but then dressed up in Norwegian kit. The CB90 is a Docksta shipyard product, Now owed by SAAB and with a newer version of the Combat boat projected and in production for the Swedish "Marines" I put marines here inside " " as both the Norwegian and Swedish coastal jaeger differ some in organization and operations, SOP, from US and British Marines. The CB90 do approx. 20+ knops with 20 troops and gear stowed. I say 20+ as I know the real speed being way higher. They can also be used to lay mines and deploy depth charges depending of iterations. They stop dead in two boat lengths by the usage of "shovels" that descend around the two jets of propulsion applying the total force of the engine to a breaking moment in 2 seconds. turning the jets 180 degree forward.

I can be very wrong at this, but U.S Marines do alot of joint training with the N.C.R! Much because of the southern coast of norway are layd out with small ilands and a perfect place to get proper training, actually alot of the boats N.C.R have are designed to handle small passages and bump underwater stones/reef and not take damage at high speed.
