US Senator Tom Cotton said it quite well: "Finland has a 900, 000-man reserve it can draw on in time of crisis and can field an army of 280, 000 when fully mobilized; which means Finland’s reserves are larger than the reserves of France, Germany, and Italy—combined. Finland has one of the strongest artillery forces in Europe, with more rocket launchers and howitzers than France, Germany, or the United Kingdom. Finland is probably the least likely to be attacked by Russia after the searing trauma of the Winter War. White death is a strong deterrent." I think Finland doesn't need much navy because there are not much space in the Baltic sea, this long and narrow waterway is not even thirty miles wide at its smallest point (+ I assume the Finnish tactic is to make that sea useless because they've got many minelayers, that's basically just a minefield in very short time and very dangerous for submarines and ships). I've read they're gonna buy modern corvettes to support their missile vessels

fun fact, population during the Winter War:
3, 700, 000 (Finland) vs 168, 524, 000 (The USSR)
back then, Finland didn't have a proper military because they weren't prepared for war and still won almost all of the battles in the Winter War & the Continuation War

in these days:
5, 564, 768 (Finland) vs 146, 109, 441 (Russia)
in these days Finland is stronger than ever, even prepared for the nukes. Russia is now weaker than ever (already lost 1/3 of their total ground forces in Ukraine etc)

There's is a TON missing from this video. HUGE info the producer doesn't realize is missing. 1) NATO would know of any build up of Russian forces of the size needed to invade Finland LONG before the actual invasion. That would enable naval & air force deployment of a scale that could stop cold any invasion as soon as it crossed Finland's border. 2) Geography. There is very little frontage on their shared border that is suitable for large scale troop and mechanized movement. And all sea routes would be too dangerous. So ALL would have to funnel into perfect kill zones for NATO air forces. In short it would be complete suicide for Russia to try it.

The Finnish Navy is perfectly suited and equipped to keep the Russian Baltic fleet blocked in St. Petersburg. The tactical requirements on the Gulf of Finland and the vast archipelago are totally different. There is a good video about the Finnish Navy spearhead, the Hamina Class missile boat at the Weapon Detective channel. That gives an idea for what type of scenario the Finnish Navy is equipped for.

As a German, I am honestly jealous of Finland. They are so much better prepared than we are. They never let their guard down, never believed in the "we don't need an army because we are surrounded by friends" myth.

I get that the video is about "US joining" something.. But video seems too much US-thing. We do have a strong defence forces and co-operation with other northern countries. US - you are welcomed here to train more arctic tactics etc ☺️

It seems the ruzzians are inept at army manoeuvres in good conditions, wet, soggy, and forested Finland would be impossible for them! I think the Finn's have the ability to defend themselves, Slava Finland!

The US loves Finland! We'd be helping immediately! I'm American and my great grandmother is a Lund from Norway. We all respect the strength and history of the Scandinavian people! Many of us are related! May we all prevail over those that threaten peace in the world!!

Finland did pretty well all by itself in 1939 - 1940...

There isn't really need for a big navy in Finland, as there is only 70 km between Tallin (Estonia also in NATO) and Helsinki. Close enough to be covered with artillery. Denmark (in NATO) can close access to Baltic sea for any Russian navy..

I like what you do man. I've noticed a lot of hate coming from UK towards Americans. It seems to be mostly younger folks who don't really know how things work in the world. It's good to show that we are allies and we have each other's back.
