Improve Oracle VirtualBox Performance by Increasing VRAM and Base Memory

You can dramatically improve Oracle VirtualBox Performance by simply increasing VRAM and base memory. By default Oracle VirtualBox only allow 128MB of VRAM which impedes performance. These simple tips help resolve the issue.

Putting more juice into my virtual machine. I have an rtx 4090 so it's painful getting lag spikes in my VM. For some reason I'm getting VMM load spikes(blue spikes) to 100% causing unbearable stuttering on the machine. Not sure what the exact cause is.

Why not just tick "Enable 3D Acceleration"? It has the desired effect straight from the GUI without bothering with powershell

i have 8gb vram on the main computer, cain i assign 2gb of vram to the virtual machine? i did not found this option. sorry for my bad english.

When I right clicked like you said it opened Visual Studio instead. After much trial and error I was able to get it to 256. Also I had to put the machine name in quotes in order to recognize the Linux machine. I opened power shell from the Windows command line and did CD \ Then put in CD "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox" to get it in the right directory. Then used your command line. It only allows me to put the vram up to 256

There is 1 more way:
Go to storage settings and click on your .vdi file and check solid-state drive. Because SSDs is faster than non-SSDs example being HDDs.

the issue i have related to this is about microsoft plus! for windows XP.why version is professional edition + service pack 3.i load the file for windows XP plus to my existing XP installation, go to my computer in the VM and click the PLUS! labeled app thats loaded.but it says some of the features will not be installed because i have less than 16 MB of VRAM.this is very confusing i had set the VRAM to 128 MB, nothing changes.

I'm having issues with my oracle machine all of them are having performance issues, like the sound systems work fine (and the games that came with them are working fine) but when I try to do any gaming from a CD-Rom on my Windows XP Prof machine it sounds and moves kind of clunky, I wish there was a way to fix it on all three (I have a Windows 98, Windows XP Prof and Windows XP Black on mine, the base memory on both of the XP's are 512MB)

AdminServer is down in Oracle VM VirtualBox and I cannot start it. That is one of the four errors which is preventing to run the Vm smoothly. I spent couple days to get this Oracle DB running in VM but I did not succeed in it. Any hint will be appreciated.

Thanks for the type about virtual box. I had to disable virtual box in order to use Windows Subsystem Linux and Hyper-V features.

My PC has only 8GB RAM (8192MB). And setting the RAM to 4GB (4096MB) runs pretty good. But, I set my VRAM to 5GB (5120MB) and it runs good enough. I only set VRAM to 5GB if I install x64 while I install x32 4GB
