Transportation needs are constantly changing. Car makers keep trying to make sports cars and we enthusiasts like to find the worst in them. What if the really was filled with only CUVs? What if there were no more sports cars?

Join us in an empty city with one red Toyota Supra.

What if.

Translation: Stop nitpicking about the new Supra and other sports cars, this world is a much better place with them than without them.

"Imagine a world without sports cars"

[Looks outside at my BRZ that I bought because of these guys]

Nope. Don't want to even think about that.

Imagine a world with steady wage increases for the middle-class who buys these sportscars in volume? With ever stagnating wages, increasing costs of needs like housing and healthcare, many of us are forced to buy these boring utilitarian bubbles because needs overshadow wants. It is painful that they all have to be seemingly monochrome. We ALL want sportscars, but they are a luxury item, and the idea of disposable income is evaporating. If you have a family you need one good four-door with room inside for that enormous rear-facing car seat. With increasing traffic we see more automatic buyers as well. My first car was a sportscar, and I will continue to buy them, but I fear that many aren't going to be able to. I will continue to hope though!

Enthusiasts frequently talk about the death of the manual transmission. Rear wheel drive seems to be rapidly dying as well. Long live rear wheel drive sports cars.

How many current new cars would you give up the Elise for to get that same experience and engagement? Maybe a new RF? The new stuff is great, but is it truly as engaging, compared to what we had 10 to 20 years ago? So many great drivers cars at the turn of the century and I feel there are not so many now. Either way, nice perspective piece!

Everyone: You're gonna die from coronavirus
Everyday Driver: No our sports cars are dying

The Supra still needs a manual. But I have hope for the new 86/BRZ. Meanwhile, just took my 2013 FRS out of storage. Still going strong and no intention to replace it anytime soon. Still an absolute joy to drive.

Absolutely the most important and incredible piece to date! This should be mandatory for every manufacturer and driver on the planet. Todd & Paul are the best!

I abosolutely love the spirit and the message within this video! This and Paul's C8 video from last week are a couple of your best!

I agree with this. I bought a 718 Cayman S. I'm sure that even in one of your videos you lamented the sound. The sound, the sound, the sound. But it DRIVES amazing. So many Internet Warriors slam the car based on how it sounded on a YouTube video on their phone. They never drove it. They were never going to buy it. So while you cry about "It sounds like a WRX" I'm out on the back roads driving it like I stole it. Which beats whining on the Internet any day.

I love sports cars. I have one, as well as a OBXT, and a diesel Touareg for towing and long trips.

My sports car is about as pure as you can get. No airbags. No ABS. No traction control. No stability control. No lane departure warnings. No auto braking. A manual - with a clutch! It's the car + my skill as a driver. Other than manage the air/fuel mixture and boost, no computer is getting in the way - or assisting me. It works well enough, and is uncomplicated. It's the next best thing to my shifter kart in terms of raw experience. I like it that way.

That was a delightful little story and I love the message. Makes me think of Red Barchetta by Rush.

People will realize motorcycles are faster and more engaging anyway, not to mention much cheaper to have and easier to store as an extra vehicle. My bike even makes commuting exciting in a way my sports car never could.

One of the best feelings is driving past kids in my Miata RF. The car gets as many looks from kids as all other age groups combined. I give them a downshift to say hi :)

Great job on this video! Compromise is what you taught me by listening to your podcast and videos. Do I need a truck for the one day in spring? Do I really need a 3 row to cart around my 2 kids? I have a Golf R family car thanks to you guys! Keep up the great videos!

Been watching you guys for years, I think since your first review of the BRZ. But lately I'm seeing hidden talents I didn't know you had. The Lemon race had me grinning and laughing at my tv the whole time, loved that video of redesigning the C8 and now this. Hope to see more!
