Living in China. In this China Vlog, I am walking along the river in Beijing City and discussing adjusting to life in China. Thinks are opening back up now that China's Covid Zero policy has gone and I am looking forward to welcoming more foreigners visiting and living in Beijing. Welcome to China.

As always, agree with your perceptions and insights on life in China. Safety is the biggest difference between China and the United States. In fact, after living in China, I no longer want to return to the US. It doesn’t mean I “dislike” or “disapprove” of the USA. I just feel it isn’t a good choice for me any longer. Happy to say I was recently offered a promotion and can stay in Beijing at least two more years.😊

That's positivity noise in Beijing, noise of innocent peace and harmony. There is too much negativity and anger in UK now.

I know what you mean. From UK
When I go abroad to Asia I have to adjust to these things.
I'm too cautious about other people, the surroundings and what I might do wrong.
You have to get use to a different kind of freedom in China.

Also, a plus for living in Beijing, is that you are not far from other nice places like Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Ulaanbaatar…..

exploring a job opportunity in Beijing/Shanghai for my local government as a young female, this video was so helpful, love to see a recent one to see what it’s like these days! really reminds me of the calmer areas of Korea back when I lived there. Great stuff man!

Perhaps it’s more quiet or calmer because Chinese still practice “propriety”, like respect for elders or being considerate or stuff like handing things to you with both hands, but this is slowly disappearing; the western culture of using only one hand is creeping in, the culture of individualism.😢I hope it’ll not be overwhelmed by western influence because it would be a pity.😢

I like his view on things, everything you taked about within the comparision of western to asian living is so spot on . Ive been living In asia for the last three years. well in Japan t be frank . I can never go back to the english western world as i am now used to the peaceful life and want to stay far away from the chaos that is WESTERN society .. That fear you spoke about when going out to a pub or down the street .. i felt that disapear and whenever i go back to a western country i feel it come back tenfold... its crazy

If the biggest thing to adjust to is the idea that we are safe there says more about where we come from than China itself. But as far as I'm concerned I always feel relatively safe anywhere I've been in the world, regardless of the place's reputation - we should always be confident yet alert (and of course the golden rule don't be a di*khead!) - people that are overly paranoid about danger actually attract danger imo

I personally wouldn't advise anyone to come to live here unless they are willing to learn the language a bit.
You're absolutely right about being able walk about at night without fear, but if you don't know the language there are plenty of people who'll be willing to take your money off you simply by ripping you off.
Even buying a meal. If you have to eat where the foreigners eat, you'll pay twice as much for the privilege. And if you can't chat to the locals and know what they are saying about you, what's the point in that?
It's worth finding a school and getting a student visa.
