I think Brendan Fraiser has gotten the closest to any actor at recapturing the Harrison Ford Han Solo/India Jones character's vibe. Competent when he needs to be hilariously unlucky when he's not.

Also, The Mummy is the perfect mix of action, adventure and humor.

Brendan Fraser has been part of a lot people’s childhood and is one of the most beloved actors, like Robin Williams and Keanu Reeves; he finally is having all the recognition he deserves… with an Oscar under is arm!

Brendan was in Encino Man, George of the Jungle, Monkeybone, School Ties, Airheads, The Scout, Blast from the Past, Bedazzled, With Honors, and a whole bunch more.

The character of Ardeth Bay (the tribesman in black with the face tattoos) was killed off in the original screenplay. However, during preview screenings of the film it became obvious he was a fan favorite, so they rewrote the script to keep him alive. I believe he’s in the sequel as well.

Rachel Weis was and is downright gorgeous. Her classic beauty is fully on display in this film. Along with some great comedic acting.

You should definitely do Mummy Returns as well. Rick and Evie are battle couple goals in the second one. It is, all around, a very strong sequel. It dives a little deeper into Imotep and Anck Su Namun's backstory. The main six actors all came back for the sequel as well so that fantastic romantic and comedic chemistry is still there.

During that hanging scene, Brandon Frazier had a near death experience. It actually choked him out, and he passed out during that scene.
The Mummy 2 is good and worth reviewing also.😊

Brendon Frasier deserves much more credit than he gets. His comedic timing and his physicality are genius. He just makes it look easy. ❤

Brendan Fraiser is such a treasure. Suffering permanent damage from that hanging scene - and going through sexual abuse afterwards. Then coming out the other side with SO much heart and dignity in tact. He's just amazing :)

Winston has such an amazing arch in this movie. We knew about the war and how we looked at him as kinda washed up. It how thought of himself. But I always smile with a twitch in my eye when I hear him say "here I come Ladies!!!" And laughs. He knew he was gonna die. But knowing his mission was to save the world. He went happily as a hero like his friends in the war. And felt worthy of joining his fallen comrades. Which is why he had such a broad smile in death. Right before the desert claimed his remains.

Shortly after this film came out a psychologist published an article talking about Jonathan Carnahan as a character. They pointed out that Jonathan's lack of concern for his own survival, his seeming alcoholism, his willingness to cut corners, his gambling and so on indicates that he most likely is suffering from PTSD. And given that he's the right age for it, its likely Jonathan is a veteran of World War I -- and being British probably acquired the PTSD in the trenches of France and Belgium.

There's a lot of little clues, such as the scene where Rick O'Connell says, "I've had worse" (talking about the odds against them) and Jonathan immediately adds, "So have I".

I must’ve watched this film 10 times or more while growing up cause whenever it was on TV we’d ALWAYS watch it. So fun every time ❤️ and it still hold up after all these years. Perfect cast too. What a gem.

Brendan made a major comeback this year for the movie The Whale. He was nominated for 6 major awards, won 4 . All nominations were 80, he won 31. The major included the Academy Award for Best Actor. It was definitely his year.

The Mummy is such a classic fun adventure movie that is so rewatchable and is easily a strong successor to Indiana Jones. Brendan Fraser just came off a very successful comeback winning an Oscar for The Whale but this is his most iconic role. He is a worldwide treasure and is loved by millions who were responsible for his comeback. His chemistry with Rachel Weisz is fiery, y'all need to watch The Mummy Returns for more action, badassery and a fully upgraded Evie.

Other Brendan Fraser movies to check out are Blast from the Past, Encino Man, School Ties, Bedazzled, Gods and Monsters, Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Whale if y'all are ready for an emotional watch.

Back in '99, I was more excited to see this movie after watching the trailer than I was to see "The Phantom Menace (Star Wars 1)"! "The Mummy" did not disappoint and, I was surprised to find out after watching the original, follows the same story very closely, which I feel is rare with re-makes these days...I'm glad you enjoyed!

I really got tickled when the mummy was dying and Amber said, "Well, he had a good run". Too much 😂😂😂

Bernard Fox, who played the English Captain Winston Havelock, who flies them in by plane for the rescue mission, had recurring roles on the TV series Hogan's Heroes (as Colonel Crittendon) and Bewitched (as Doctor Bombay). He's always great fun to watch, and his acting career lasted over 50 years.

This is a viciously hilarious horror comedy.
"Blast from the Past" is lots of fun.

I went to see this movie on opening day in Springfield, Missouri when it came out. When I was lined up to go in, the people in front of me were a somewhat elderly couple. They were super excited because their son had a part in the movie. Turns out their son played the guy who gets his eyes removed. It was pretty horrific for them to see their son like that. lol
