I love revisiting this film. It just has a bit of everything, but one thing that stands out is the traditional male/female dynamic this movie has. I love the whole strapping, handsome, heroic archetype that O'Connell represents, while Evie is the classic, nieve wide eyed damsel in distress. What is special is that they have well written character arcs. While O'Connell represents the Braun, Evie is obviously the brains. And even though Evie starts as the clumsy librarian, by the end of the film she has found the real strength within herself and ultimately has a hand in saving all their asses. To me it is also a film representing a true partnership between the two sexes. They have their respective roles and unique skills and strengths, and both could not have accomplished the mission without the other.
