Arnold Vosloo's performance as Imhotep is impressive. His expressions and voice are imposing, features every good movie villain must have. A frightening bloodthirsty creature.

I love how even the small parts in this movie are subtly funny: the way Imhotep opens his mouth menacingly to kill O'Connell and then snaps it shut when he hears that his ass is about to be banished back to the underworld. Also the way he chases after the chariot. Arnold Vosloo is such a great casting - easily switches back and forth between frightening, intimidating and comical.

Imhotep smiles when he is taken to the underworld because he finally can have the luxury of the underworld (and the rewards) now that he is finally dead. the only reason he wanted to stay immortal was just to be with anck-su-namun.
