"at the $25 price point you really can't expect more' thats basically a 10/10 from LPL

The fact that he had to pick it rather than just stare at it or wave a magnet somewhere nearby is a vast improvement on many locks seen recently,

In other words, for the vast majority of folks it's a great choice. If the shackle is hardened correctly the chances of someone picking a disk detainer core in the wild is slim at most.

Special skills and tools required, low cost. Basically, then, a solid lock for most users.

"The Pick that Bosnian Bill and I made" - The Pick of Destiny - always good to hear👍

I just know that every time LPL grabs a disc detainer lock for his next video, he's thinking "it's going to be one of those", and as he nonchalantly says "the pick that Bosnian Bill and I made" he's thinking to himself "there goes the comments section".

" probably beyond most novice Pickers " Is a HUGE Endorsement

In fairness, virtually any lock with a halfway decent disk detainer core is going to be beyond the capabilities of anyone but a locksmith or a locksport enthusiast to pick. It's really the resistance to other bypasses that matter. In this case, a hardened shackle means a lot.

One thing to keep in mind is that bike thieves aren't after YOUR bike in particular, they're after whichever bike takes the least time and effort to steal.
LockPickingLawyer makes every lock look trivial, but on the street, any lock that can't be opened by a kid with a bic pen (or cut through with a very cheap bolt cutter) will drop your risk of bike theft to basically nil.

We are going to rotate all discs as far clockwise as they will go... Then I'm...

HERE IT COMES

I came here 14 seconds after the video uploaded and the lock was already picked.

Aside from it having a hardened shackle, low price and requiring the tool LPL and Bosnian Bill made, you also have to read between the lines. It obviously couldn’t be opened by shimming, knocking with a hammer, applying a magnet, sticking a pointy thing in all the way and twisting or LPL just glaring at it! So in my book it’s a winner. 👍

He said it has good hardening and requires specialized tools to pick… If I rode a bike, it sounds like a winner

I think this is the first time on this channel we've seen a U-lock with one of the ends of the shackle being bent outward at a 45 degree angle. That's actually a pretty good security measure in addition to being hardened steel. I believe that LPL understated how good this lock appears to be on the surface especially at the price point of $25.

Nothing like a classic LPL video on a Friday morning.

In my city, the only tool bike thieves ever use anymore is a cordless angle grinder. A co-worker had a bike stolen from a locked cage. Inside the cage, the bike was locked with two locks that each had to be cut twice to free the bike. The thief cut the heavy duty padlock on the cage, and made four cuts through bike u-locks. I would be very interested in understanding more about grinder resistant products. I know some locks take longer to cut than others. Thanks. PS love you channel. I watch every video you post!

Dude! We all know the first time is never a fluke, but you didn’t pick it again to prove it! I’m gonna say that was a fluke…. 😂

As always, it warms my heart when I head the phrase "disk detainer core", and I anticipate the tribute to Bosnian Bill
