Can you relate? - lesson 33
ADHD Life Lessons I Wish Someone Told Me After Getting Diagnosed, Number 33/50
If you have ADHD you will always want things right now. That dream job. That relationship. 100k Followers. You name it, no matter how difficult it may be to get, you want it now, because it can feel almost painful to have to wait. You then work in overdrive for a few days **or a week,** only to realize that it’s a lot more difficult to attain than you thought and so you move on to the next thing, leaving your old goals in the dust and feeling guilty for not making your dreams a reality.
**This is when I had to learn about adhd, our relationship with time and how to achieve my goals despite of it.** **I learned that we often underestimate how long something will take because our brains are literally blind to the feeling of time and that we are therefore only motivated in the short-term,** **which is why it’s impossible to achieve anything meaningful without setting small goals that motivate you, daily.** **Giving my brain daily targets has allowed me to finally enjoy the journey, all the while giving me perspective and confidence.**
Lesson 33: Good things take time
