Just sat for 1.5 hrs with a smile on my face seeing someone relive memories that will last a lifetime. Your excitement telling us hole by hole shots and putts, that we all know so well from years of watching was so engaging. Great episode👌

I'm only eight minutes in, and what's coming over is the humble gratitude that Rick has for the hand that life is dealing to him. Of course, he's worked hard and made bold decisions to get here (the interview he did with Nick Faldo about his career to date on Faldo's Youtube channel tells a lot about how hard Rick's worked), but the genuine appreciation and recognition that life has been kind along the way really comes over.

Hat doffed to the man. A well deserved 2.5m subscribers too.

Rick's ability to describe his experience is on par with Jim Nance describing the Masters each year. Phenomenal. Best podcast ever!!!

I grew up in Aiken, SC, which is about 25 minutes from Augusta. Here's the deal with the Masters. It has changed a good bit in recent years, but way back when (before TV and Arnold Palmer really helped expand golf to the masses) getting tickets wasn't hard. And once you had tickets, you had them for life and you could pass them down to one family member after your death. So TONS of people in the 40s, 60s, and 60s got tickets and passed them to the next generation. So, growing up (in the 80s and 90s), it was odd to meet people who had NOT been to the Masters. My family never directly had them, but I probably have been 15ish times from 1992-2018. So, yes, there are a LOT of folks you see in the crowd who have been many times and not necessarily because they have their own tickets. But as far as I know, when you get tickets through the lottery (each year), that's it. You'd have to re-enter the lottery the following year as well. The term "Arnie's Army" really began there at Augusta in the late 50s. Fort Gordon is an Army base in Augusta, GA. Back in the 50s they would give away loads of tickets to the soldiers there. Because Palmer was THE star in golf in the late 50s/early 60s, these huge hoards of army guys would follow Palmer. That was one of the first times when you'd hear the term "Arnie's Army" (1959, I believe) because you'd have these big crowds of guys in Army fatigues following Palmer. Happy for you, Rick. Congrats on a great week!

Rick might be one of the greatest golf storytellers I’ve ever seen. His description of his tee shot on 1… I could swear I was standing 10 paces behind him on the tee box. Absolutely awesome. Congrats to Rick and thank you for letting us live through you vicariously!

I know 3 people who have played Augusta, and every one of them is able to describe every shot, and every putt from that day. I was more captivated by Ricks retelling of his round, then I was watching the masters this year. Super special, that oppurtunity could not have gone to anyone more deserving.

That feeling of being on a golf course and feeling like you are just present and nothing else exists is exactly one of the endearing features of Golf. For me personally it is exactly one of the reasons I play it. An escape. Just you, the golf ball, the course and your playing partners (or not!). Pure bliss and a proper escape from the daily bombardment of life. 👍🏼

I grew up in Augusta about 15 mins from the course, it still amazes me when I go how immaculate the grounds are. It doesn’t even look like it’s in the same city.

Rick, I am in awe at the unbelievable opportunity you had last week. you experienced something that even us regular golfers could not imagine. To experience the entire week plus the gatherings as well as to be able to actually play Augusta is beyond my imagination!!! I am so happy for you to have this experience. Most of us cant even get in to watch a round. Great content, it is almost like being there myself. Thank you.

You are so outrageously present whenever you don't have your phone. You need to try it in the rest of your life Rick. It's such a better life.

Absolutely loved every minute of this podcast.
The happiness and joy Rick has explaining every bit of Augusta is really putting it in the view of the normal golfer who most would give anything to be able to play golf heaven.
Unreal achievement and very happy for you Rick!

The fact that Guy hardly spoke made it so much better as well 😂

From someone who will never attend the Masters nor play Augusta you’ve brought every feeling I’ve ever envisioned about the Masters to life. Thank you so much!

I have to say I saw the thumbnail of this video and had envy of the fact you got the opportunity to play it. But listening to you speak about it, that was a joy to listen to how it lived up to all expectations and you really soaked it in. Whilst it’s not the home of golf, it’s like the Sistine Chapel of golf courses. Thank you for sharing your story and great score Rick!
