Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Rick, take a driver, those hybrids, a 60* wedge and your putter and do a break 75...

Rick could go out and shoot 62 with them and still be like "nah... I don't fancy the look of them. Not for me."

Ive had a set of Wazakis for around four years Itried to convert back to normal irons and make all sorts of corrections to my swing path. Ive ended up going back to my wazaki's to be nore consistent and the distance. Like Rick states, I use these alongside a set of lofted wedges and leave the sand wedge behind. They do wear but still okay performance wise.

I am a life long golfer that just recently went with a full set of hybrids and I am never going back. I play a driver, 2-PW hybrids and 52, 56, and 60 degree wedges. I carry no woods (other than driver) and my wedges are the only irons. I'm hitting it longer by 2 clubs at least, higher, straighter and much more consistently. They are so much easier to hit off the tee, out of the rough and off the fairway. It took a few weeks to get the feel for them, but now I love them. One thing I had to adjust to was the increase in distance. With the hybrid PW, for example, I now hit the ball 130-150 yds. with a full swing. With my iron PW I was getting maybe 110 tops out of it with a really good strike. I have found the hybrids almost impossible to slice, difficult to fade and pretty easy to hit straight, a draw, or a hook. Game changers for me. For reference, I am 69 years old. My driver distance has dropped to 210 to 240 yards so the increase in distance with these hybrids really helps offset that loss. Don't be swayed by the stigma around hybrids. Give them a try for a few weeks and I think you will see what I mean. BTW, the 2 hybrid is probably the easiest one in the set to hit. Can that be said about a 2 iron? Nope.

I'd love to see Rick do his break 75 with these hybrids as a scramble with a senior who would swing slower than Rick does.

I think Cleveland has nailed the style with the Launcher Halo irons, they are more progressively shaped through the set so you get closer to a traditional iron with shorter clubs moving into more hybrid shape for the longer clubs. I'd like to see you use those vs using those flashy cheapies😂

I made my own set of 10 hybrids 36 inch shafts. Love them.

Well be retired, I have both several hybrids and an all woods set to play my rounds with. I really enjoy the all woods set from Thomas golf. Got them several years ago and really didn't change/effect my score at all and shoot pretty good with them. It is kind of funny to be shooting with a 19 or 23 wood but they are so easy to hit.
Take care.

I added a 8 Hybrid to my bag because I couldn't get the loft I needed from my 7 iron....I found out just what you did Rick, it works! It takes time to get used to it but as a 60+ golfer I can now hit a high lofted 150 yarder into a green.

Rick, I’m an ‘experienced’ (senior), higher handicap golfer. I replaced my irons (4 to 9) with Callaway hybrids this summer and they’ve made a difference in my game. Though I’m still learning how to hit them, they have added a few yards over my irons. I even use them off the tee on tight fairways, helped par a couple par 5’s. Lowered my handicap by about 5 so far this season. Much easier to hit than the irons, better on the fairway then my woods. So far no regrets. Looks like the construction of the Callaway is better than the Wazaki. Enjoy all your lessons, learning a lot, keep them coming. From Northern Alberta,

I’m glad your able to review these. I don’t like this particular set because of the color etc. I have a set of the black Wasaki hybrids and much better to look at. After a stroke these were very helpful to me. My ego made me go with more traditional irons after my recovery. I’m keeping the Wasakis hybrids around just in case I need them in the future. I have tried most Super Game Improvement irons and the Wasaki are better. By the way, I could not keep the head covers on while playing. They were made the bag look silly. I do feel you “pros” should be able to play with anything… but egos get in the way with pros too! Hope to you try this out on the course for fun.

I have been using the blue Wazakis for about 7 years now. Love 'em. Even went off and bought the 1 and a 3 hybrids. The 7 & SW are my favourites. Nice review Rick. Keep it up ...

I am a hacker who went from not being able to break 100 to shooting low 90’s by using 7 hybrids (3-9) in my bag. It made the game way more fun for me. And I still have 2 wedges for short chips. It was pricey though, all Calloway mavrik max’s. I’m not a senior but I recommend for those wanting to improve quickly without hours of practice.

Love the channel Rick! You inspired me to take the game seriously and it changed my life! I am 17 years old and I was born with a malformed right hand and arm. I’ve always been a very competitive person but now I’ve found a game that I can play and win! Thanks again Rick! You have changed my life!

I bought some hybrid clubs 4-pw from a company called Lazrus. Best golf purchase I’ve ever made. When I got back into recreational/weekend playing golf I got a full set of Top Flite club from Dick’s Sporting goods, used them for about 6 months. Then I bought some one length clubs 5-pw, I hit them pretty good, used these for about 6mo’s. The I started researching hybrids clubs, so seeing I’m a budget golfer I decided to try the Lazrus hybrids so I ordered a set of 5-pw, I already had the 3wood and 4hybrid from Lazrus. I cannot tell you how much my game improved when I started hitting the hybrids. I wouldn’t ever go back to traditional irons

You should do the break 75 at a course where you haven't broken 75 to put them to a true test! Keep the content coming Rick!

I’ve used the Adams Idea Tech hybrid irons for 2 years. I’m 69 and my iron play was suffering. I found these in a used club store. I payed $230.00. They are 3-5 traditional hybrids and 6-pw+gw hollow back irons. They fly high, stop well, and are pretty easy to hit. My iron game is the best I’ve ever had. My scoring suffers because of old guy distance loss. I actually don’t use the 4-6 hybrids. I use a 5, 7, and 9 wood. My next move is sadly, moving up a tee. I don’t mind playing worse, because my mates still put up with me.

Slazenger did this well over a decade ago with "the slazenger big easy's". Great idea for beginners or older folk!

I bought the Callaway Ibrid irons about 15 years ago because of pain in my hands. I installed graphite shafts and
I love them. The back of the clubs have a shaft damping material. I don't care what the clubs look like as long
as I hit them straight, which I do. Great video Rick.

I bought a set of full hybrids for my daugter when she started playing. It was amazing how well she hit them at 10 years old
