To factory reset your Nest Smoke Detector do the following:

2. Press the middle button on the Nest Protect Smoke Detector and it will light up and start talking to you. Keep holding the button down and don't let up from holding the Nest Smoke Detector middle button you will need to keep constant pressure on it.
3. After about 10-20 seconds the device will then go into a reset mode where the device will start a reset countdown. Keep placing pressure on the Nest Protect Smoke detector center button. Do not let up.
4. Once the count down has completed and the Nest Smoke Detector has gone through the reset sequence you can take the pressure of the center button.
5. The Nest Protect Smoke Detector has now been reset to factory defaults.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I wanted to reset but wasn't actually holding it down as you did in your video! Fixed the issue straight away and connected to my new network and password like magic 🤗🤗👍🏻👍🏻

We have been in our condo almost 2 years with Nest thermostat and nest smoke detector....so this morning we got the warning after cooking it detect smoke and that the alarm may go off. Luckily we opened window/fan to keep the alarm from going off. Should it have gone off....is this how we would shut the alarm off? I have the nest app, but not seeing where I can disarm via the app. Any help would be appreciated should this arise again.

My nest smoke detector was activated accidentally. After the smoke is removed, the detector still "beep" regularly in certain period of time. Please advise how to fix it ?

So what is the next step? How do you get them back on the app? And do you need to take them off? I’ve got 3 on 13 foot high ceilings! 😭
Changed my router and the Nest Protects have gone to 💩!

Don't do this unless you can reach the unit and read the numbers off of the back. If you can't get to it, the unit is now garbage stuck to your ceiling
