After their members opened up about their relationship, this church decided to become a place where all Christians are welcomed as they are, including those who identify as LGBTQ.

Only about half of Christians in the U.S. believe that homosexuality should be accepted. Before they changed their mind, Eastlake Community Church's policy was essentially "Don't ask, don't tell."

They are now an example of how a faith community can evolve and love people as they are.

I think a lot of people are confused. Yes Jesus talked with sinners and sat with them. He was never a part of them. He loved and cared for them, it doesn't mean because he loved them dearly he said their sins were okay. He was with them to talk to them about their sins, about their inequities and how God wanted them to enter his kingdom. That's exactly what he would do if he was here. He specifically went to those people because they needed the Gospel most. Jesus loves each and every one of us. Whether white, black, gay, bi, trans whatever we are. It doesn't mean he's okay with the sins we commit. Your mother loves you, but she still punishes you right? Because he loves us, he would want us to follow him. So don't be misled with the whole Jesus hung out with sinners thing. He wasn't one of them, he wanted to make them one of his.

You can't disagree with the Bible when you're a Christian. The Bible is God's word. As Christians you trust what God says through the Bible even if you don't understand it.

Correction: just because a group of people don’t agree with another groups’ lifestyle, doesn’t mean that they hate them. Jesus called us to 1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and 2. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. And that’s what true Christians are called to do. Jesus came to save sinners not to manage sin. If the Bible mentions something as a sin (in both the Old and New Testament) then it is a sin.

Imagine a local church that all of them except the small children miss the rapture.

I wouldn't kick anyone out the church.

But I would invite the Holy Spirit into every decision and every service.

I would tell everyone you must accept Jesus as Lord of your life and surrender your all to the Holy Spirit every day.

If you choose not to - you will live in sin.

You can't stay away from sin on your own.

You must surrender totally to God daily.
