Shoulder holsters are objectively the best because they make you look really cool

I actually crazy glued my firearm and spare magazines directly to my palms because as we all know…

The hand wasn’t made to hold things very well.

Appendix is superior from a technical perspective. Absolutely. I would appendix carry, but I just cannot make it comfort and work for an 8-12 hour desk job. And then the times when I'm not at work and appendix carry is now a viable option, I don't want to confuse my brain/muscle memory since I've practiced the 4 o'clock draw for the 5/7 days of the week when I'm out of the house.

I told my wife I was nervous to carry appendix because of a negligent discharge might blow something off… she said it’s a small target, I should be fine.

I was 4 o'clock for yrs. 1 day of appendix changed me for life. Not having to constantly make sure my shirt was covering my firearm from the 4 position won me over instantly.

On a different note, I really do appreciate that you focus on multiple areas of self defense. I know this is an older video but I haven't felt the need to carry till lately, so thank you for the explanations for the reasons and affective/effective appendix carry really is. I got the quicker easier to get to but the rest was the cherry on top

I’m working on getting rid of my pot belly Mike. I’ve also never carried concealed before but have wanted to get my permit since my first child was born. This video provides excellent insights into things I’ve never considered before. Thanks.

Was literally drilling this the other day. Force on force, meaning the confrontation begins unarmed, it's almost impossible to get to a weapon at 4 o'clock. Much more success getting to my weapon and getting shots off in a grappling situation with it at appendix

I use 2 o'clock with the gun right behind my right front pocket and I carry with a little forward tilt. When I sit, the muzzle points outside my leg and I can bend over and tie my shoes with the gun on. My seatbelt doesn't go across my gun and it's comfortable to wear seated.

If I draw from sitting while carrying appendix, something I don't want a gun pointed at will get swept. If I am crouched down behind cover and I need to draw, I can do it safely from 2 o'clock.

I tried an experiment. I practiced drawing from an IWB holster at 1, 2, 3 and 4 o'clock until I could do it smoothly and consistently. Then I got out my shot timer and checked to see how fast I was at each. 4 was by far the slowest. Appendix was the second slowest, but not by much. 2 and 3 were a few hundredths of a second apart with 2 having the slight edge. Your mileage may vary.

I can actually be in my shooting stance and draw without having my gun point at things I don't want shot off.

I also carry a SA/DA gun because when I put the gun in the holster, I can place my thumb on the hammer. If I feel that hammer move, I can stop before I hear the loud bang.

You can also see your holster when re holstering which can help. And you can feel you gun easier from there. I know you aren’t supposed to touch your gun but it’s kind of a subconscious thing for a lot of people and I don’t have to touch it with my hands because it’s already touching my belly and I can actually feel the gun that way.

OWB in front of the strong side hip. For me that's 1:30 or 2:00. All the benefits of a quick draw and retention similar to appendix carry but much more comfortable for those of us with a little extra in the middle. Also generally keeps the business end of the pistol pointed away from the daddy parts and femoral artery.

Only real downside I've found is that it covers the front pants pocket.

Absolutely correct. Maybe conditioning fam by carrying a torch or tool at appendix to understand sitting and transitioning factors.

2:20 Your SAS guy 'Andy McNab' says keep a magazine in the right jacket pocket so that when you sling it the weight throws the jacket right around your back and away.

I carried 4 0clock for years, then tried appendix for a couple of years and now I'm back to 4 o'clock. I drive ALOT from job site to job site and I got this weird bruising and skin discoloration under my belly button while carrying appendix. That's just my situation. What feels better/more tactical? Both now I guess.

I agree and like your well thought out explanation. Thankfully I only 4 o'clock carried for a little while and it was indeed because I have the proper natural fear of anything sharp or explosive, from being anywhere near the family jewels. I carry appendix now, 99% of the time. I will still only carry in the 4 o'clock position for one good reason, which I have never heard anyone on the interwebs, ever talk about. Riding a bicycle. It hurts like hell and makes breathing difficult. Admittedly, I could lose a little fluff around the midsection, but I'll be very surprised if anyone can do this comfortably. I'm specifically talking about riding a hybrid bike or other road or mountain bike where you're leaning forward more than you would on a beach cruiser.

I agree with mostly everything you said except for it being for almost everybody, I’m overweight and a lot of guys are and appendix carry suck when you’re fat, it’s fine while standing, I can do that all day but if I’m going to be sitting for long periods of time then it can be uncomfortable, that’s being said I still choose to carry appendix, my draw is super fast and strong and I find my sights just a little quicker because I’m not swinging my arm from my side.

Outstanding review! As a retired LEO I started to carry more appendix carry. Your points make a lot of sense.
