I have a story to tell about my mama. I was young but I remember this. We put snap beans up and the dining room table was full of quart jars. The jars started exploding as they cooled and mama was up set and wrote a letter to Ball Mason jar company. They wrote her back and ask if she would mail some of the jars to them. Week's past then a letter and two cases of quart jars arrived at our house. The letter told mama how sorry they were and please except this jars as a revert this happened. It also stated that even jars wear out they were from the forties. I am in my sixties now so we are old school and must say really enjoy listening as I work.

I do the same thing with a black sharpie, marking an "x" on the imperfect jars. Then I just use them for my sweet tea.

I appreciate you for sharing your useful knowledge. Question??? What are the best jars to use… Kerr or Ball?

Thank you for this common sense video. I definitely lack that sometimes. I lost a jar of blueberry jam. I heard a poof. Then started seeing the stuff in the canner. I had just brought these jars too. Please listen to him. I saw a little something on the side of the jar and still went through washing, sterilizing and canning with it. Time and expense of not using common sense wasn't worth it. And some people are just getting started. This could save them aggravation and money. Yes, Thanks Jamey, for more "useful knowledge" No pun intended.

Thanks Jamie. Never busted a jar but have a lid blow off while making chili beans. What a mess. God Bless and stay safe.

Thank you for this and don't want to bother you but could you possibly do one on lids please? I've had a few not seal and I must be missing something when checking them. Thank you and have a wonderful day. :-)

Thanks for the useful knowledge. I didn’t find any cracks, but I had a lot of lids that were dented and stained.
How often can you reuse your lids? I read where another you tuber said you should use them only once, then throw them away!
