Classico ATLAS Mason Jars Re-Use for Canning? | Useful Knowledge

Can you re-use Classico Pasta Sauce ATLAS mason jars for canning? I do. Ball lids fit these 24 ounce size jars perfectly. I can in the Classico ATLAS mason jar. In this video, we show that the glass content is there but are they tough enough for canning?

It amazes me the people think that these majors jars are not capable of canning items. I have used these for about five years. They make great blueberry syrup jars because they are 24 ounces. Classico Atlas mason jars have proven themselves tough enough for my canning.

Last year in 2021, we had a huge crop of blueberries. I canned about 25 jars of blueberry syrup in these Classico ATLAS mason jars. They worked great and looked really cool for Christmas gifts.

I can in all spaghetti sauce jars, pickle jars and salsa jars. Any jar whose lid has teeth, a rubber ring and a button top. I use them over and over. Never a crack, never a broken seal. 30 years and counting.

I have to say, for water bath canning, I would use any jar that food came in .. they all go thru that process by the manufacturer, so it's safe.

If it's good enough for a factory it's good enough for home

I use these and reuse these all the time! I collect them from friends and family. Their smaller jars with the lug lids are a great size for jam too! And yes they seal just fine!

I didn't even need to weigh these jars, I could feel how heavy they are!
I use them both water bath & pressure canned! Love 'em!! Years ago, many products were sold in jars that the thrifty housewives used for canning for many years!! I'm in my 60's and am using a lot of old jars from my mom & even my grandmother. Grandma used to tell stories about being so excited to get a new canning jar when she bought groceries!! Some of them were colored & lovely shapes!!
Thank you for this video, it just reinforces what I already believed!! God bless!

I reuse the same jars for blackeyed peas. My husband like a larger serving with his peas. Besides I love the look and how they fit on the shelf.

I have pressured canned potatoes in these jars for 75 minutes and they did just fine …

I've come up with a few of these in recent years. With canning supplies scarce and expensive, I tried these for water bath canning tomatoes and even pressure canning green beans. I prefer quarts for these veggies but as far as performance, they worked just fine.

I pressure can with them even reuse the lid that came with the atlas jar. Seal so tight my dautgher and her mother can't open them. I just reuse the lids till they don't seal anymore.

Sounds like Classico just wants to protect them selves in case someone cans wrong and something rots. Why else would they use mason jars with lids that perfectly take canning lids and rings. I save and use mine for canning as well with no problems at all.

Never had one break in all my years of canning. I have seen a couple Ball, Kerr and Bernardin jars break, but NOT the Atlas. 😁

The jars for the Classico Alfredo sauces are a nice smaller size, but the lids are smaller than a Standard mouth size. I can sometimes reuse the lids that came with it, but I would like to find out if there are any 2 piece lids made in that size. 🤔

Atlas Mason Jars are actually thicker glass than a ball jar or standard canning jar! I need to get more Atlas Jars!

I love these kind of videos. So I subbed. I have 24 Oz Ball jars and I love them. I weighed 3 of them for you ... 13.75, 13.75 and 13.85. They are a little weighty it seems. I would have never weighed them if it were not for your video. I found the results interesting. I have heard it is the ridges on the bottom base that determine if a jar is capable of pressure canning. For Example, if there is a raised dot matrix style ring around the bottom (check out your Ball jars) then it is safe for pressure canning. I do not know if this is accurate or not.
