What happened yesterday with Unity wanting to apply a "Runtime fee" is an excellent example of what Juan is saying here. 12:00

Juan was prophetic, saw this install fee in advance

Godot is coming along leaps and bounds. I look forward to it being a total replacement for the slow-to-develop-for and closed-source Unity engine.

Also, I hope they keep working on and improving gdscript, which imo is a fantastic scripting language :)

I switched from Unity to Godot and all I can say is that I am really enjoying Godot so far.

As someone who has just recently started playing with Godot, I'm excited that I'm here at a time where it feels like things are really starting to take off (especially with the release of version 4).

this open ecosystem thing is a great idea

This video would be so much more relevant if some major engine company started trying to take profits from devs based on runtime installs which would be stupid and no one would ever do that - well except for that fact that it did happen

Juan is one of the Ivy league free software heroes.
My modest opinion:
Its important to connect more with Blender.

What i most love is the c# editor, multithread scene, terrain and asset streaming. Although in the tittle it should have said official plugin,

Godot 4 has been a serious game changer for us, and I can't wait to see how the future unfolds!

Every time Unity makes another baffling business decision, Godot is gaining interest.
Writing after Unity posted about new pricing where devs need to pay $0, 20 per install if they cross install amount and revenue thresholds.
I hope they don't die, because competition is very important, and Unity collapsing would be a huge bummer fro the entire industry.
In the meantime - go Godot!

Hats off to all the devs who put time into this engine. It truly can follow in the footsteps of linux. Everybody wins with opensource tech

One Thing that Godot can do over time, is to take blender’s approach of eating their own dog food. Create small proof of concept games, which are actually shipping ready. Something more than the 3th person shooter demo. This will show the hidden problems in workflow and performance.
