Never loose hope

We can take inspiration from DARA of 2ne1
She became a trainee at YG at the age of 23 and debuted at 25

TO ALL ASPIRING K-POP IDOLS- Honestly, I wished I weren’t shy and insecure as a teenager. I would taken up singing lessons. But i’m 24 plus now so it’s probably too late for me to be an idol. Took me very long to gain my confidence. To anyone who has a dream, please don’t let fear get in the way. I don’t want you to make the Same mistakes as me. If you are afraid of failure, do it anyways. I rather you fail honourably than to fail because you didn’t even try. All the best to you all❤

Great video Irene. I think people should know that if you're serious about being an artist you wouldn't worry about age etc. Believe in what you're trying to achieve. Also its okay to wanna be in Kpop but its important to consider the industry in countries you live too. One can be successful in any language and music industry because its art it knows no barriers. Kpop is just one avenue to create your art consider more options. Best of luck to all.

1:58 true! Idols are always talking about how they missed out on their childhood due to training at a company

Thank you for this. I'm getting "older" for typical trainee age, but this video helped boost my confidence. And yes please make a video about idols who debuted at an older age❤

I do think it's important to never lose hope. No matter the age that you're in. You always can do music nonetheless. A lot of smaller companies accept older trainees and even some foreign idols like Alex and Fatou both started in Kpop when they were in their 20's. It's always great to consider other opportunities too like working in the industry in the background like background vocals, producing, songwriting or even being a background dancer. There's also many shows in Korea where you can participate as a singer whilst being a foreigner. You can also make Kpop inspired music and not necessarily be a Kpop idol. Even while living in Korea there's many other singing opportunities like festivals and events.
And if you want to do acting or modeling in Korea, that's even more inclusive when it comes to age. So there's always opportunities. You only need to believe in yourself and work on yourself to be in the best shape of yourself that you can be.

I'm watching this video now, and I'm 16 and turning 17 in a few months. My aim is to audition on my birthday next year when I turn 18. I've been watching so many videos about the Kpop trainee life and the idol life, and I know some videos won't be like others, but I'll never know how the Kpop idol life is like until I experience it, and it's hard to get there. I've been wanting to become a Kpop idol since I was 13, and I know English, Korean, Mandarin, Chin, and Japanese, the languages I need to learn and know the most. One of my hobbies is writing and learning languages, so the learning part was easy, now I'm learning Filipino, I figured Kpop companies would love to have someone who knows many languages, and it would give me a better chance to pass an audition. So thank you Irene for your videos, I can't tell all about my plans here but I just wanted to give it out some details. To anyone who wants to become a Kpop idol, the trainee and idol life will be hard and there's a 50/50 chance you'll debut, but that's a risk you'll have to take if you want to get to where you want. Work hard, hard work pays off, and always cling on to hope. Don't let anyone get to you because when you become an idol there will always be hate thrown at you, be strong and believe in yourself.
