There are idols who’ve stated that their audition was so bad that they were surprised they even got chosen.
They didn’t sing or even rap well let alone dance.
I think it has a lot to do with appearance as well. I’m sure that’s not the only factor. But it’s def one of the BIG ONES.

When they say they pick "charming" or "charismatic" people, they mean whether they look attractive or not. And when they say "they only need a second to know if your idol-worthy or not, " theyre also judging how attractive you are

How to pass your audition: be east asian


Edit: i genuinely didn't expect people to take this as seriously as they did, but i guess it is YouTube comments so i just wanted to clear one or two things up if anybody cares enough to read it<3 yes, you can be a kpop idol and not be east Asian (this includes southeast Asia areas as well) but it's more unlikely and you usually don't get debuted in successful groups, and if you are recognized, often it's because you aren't east Asian and are in a kpop band (fatou from blackswan as an example). It is also my own little salty opinion due to being unable to be a kpop idol for several reasons that don't just include not being east Asian, since it's something i wanted since 2016. If you read all this i am genuinely impressed, i just wanted to clear things up before people got the wrong idea, sorry that it's long♡

Step 1: be a gorgeous, skinny, young asian or at least half asian person that can dance and sing

Like Itzy Yuna said even when you are not professionally trained in singing or dancing, you have to have THAT look (confidence) in the eyes when you walk in. You have to show that you have the potential to become an idol. Performance does matter but it's always the first impression that does it.

It makes sense since most idols who got casted on streets are charismatic.

4. Possess mediocre singing/dancing/charisma OR none at all if you already fit in the Korean beauty standards.
