Im not against the existence of god, im actually all for it. The existence of an afterlife and not simply vanishing into cosmic non existence is an appealing idea, I just cant bring myself to properly believe in something I have no proof of

I do think we need to make a more proper distinction in definitions, as there is a difference between someone who thinks a creator being cannot exist, someone who thinks that it can exist but probably doesn't, and someone who simply believes that there is insufficient evidence to make a truth claim about it. All these like to call themselves Atheist in formal debate.

People assume atheism is making the claim that god doesnt exist, NDT doesnt want that label because he isnt making that claim. However he is an atheist and is open about his opinion, he just doesnt want people to misunderstand his position.

I am agnostic and atheist but I really don’t care what people think it’s what they believe to be true and none else can change that so keep believing what you believe and have an awesome life👍

In the end, if everything is caused by random chance, then the only miracle needed for me to believe in a higher power, is our existence alone

Many religious people think we don't believe it for the sake of it.
They don't understand having faith, and believing in God is such a comforting idea i wish i could belive in God, i just can't convince myself logically.

i respect the honesty, he’s a scientist and relys on proven facts, there is no doubt there is a creator due to the shear statistical nature of life itself, he just hasn’t found any evidence that any of the described gods actually exist

Honestly, nothing against religion, i like it and everything it stands for, i just think its a little bold for god to resolve so much around humans, i feel like if god is real, it wouldnt be in the conventional ways we think about religions. The universe spans 546 sextillion miles, or 93 billion light years, and he just picked one tiny insignificant dot in a huge cosmic playground, i just highly doubt it. I feel like if there is some higher being, its alot more complex than the religions that some believe in. Who knows maybe im wrong though, ill find out when im dead, thats if it isnt a non existent end.
