Superb! "What I feel in my heart, I give to the world." Franz Schubert. In this sonata, composed in 1828 near the end of his life, Schubert shares with us the torment of loneliness and insecurity he felt throughout his life. With his rare poetic insights Seong-Jin Cho captures the depth of feeling inherent in the music and conveys it to us in a remarkable performance. What an amazing young artist to reach such heights of musicianship!

This is such an enchanting performance. Cho's playing shows he clearly understands the sublime quality and spiritual depth of this later sonata by Schubert. Truly remarkable and impressive, considering the very young age of the pianist (only 22 years old) when he performed this at Gilmore. His refined artistry, musical maturity, and virtuosity makes me wish that he will record a Schubert sonata album in the fear future. (BTW, this video definitely deserves more views and hopefully it will eventually get as many views as the other Gilmore festival video of Cho playing Chopin's preludes!)

슈베르트하면 가곡성악곡을 떠올렸는데 슈베르트가 죽기몇달전
영혼을갈아넣어 쓴거같은 피아노소나타3곡도 보면 진짜 슈베르트도 참 대단한천재구나 느껴지고 조성진의 영혼을 갈아넣은 연주도 듣고 있으면 20대중반의 청년에게 참 존경심이 절로든다
클래식은 피아노든 다른거든 영혼을 갈아넣은 사람들이 잘하는거 같더라 ㅜㅜ

Fantastic Sonata and fantastically played as always by Seong-Jin Cho.
IMHO, whoever put the pointers towards the 4 movements made a mistake. The final Allegro (SO SO very beautiful) starts at 23:23 (not 26:33).

Young musicians who put the amount of work into learning, practising and performances the way Seong-Jin Cho has done, have my complete respect and admiration. They are treasures. I just pray they have some fun in their lives as well. This is most beautifully interpreted and the recording is excellent, thank you. The final movements are Schubertian gems. Cathy.

A monumental work, ranking with the greatest of Schubert's masterpieces, so eloquently laid out for us on the piano by this young musical genius, Seong-Jin Cho. He elicits all the poetry that Schubert planted in this sonata, and does it with a mature musical sense. He is always communicating, which makes the performance completely riveting.
