잘치는거 알았지만 이번 2021 콩쿨보고 조성진이 진짜 넘사벽임을 다시 한번 깨달았다....

21살의 어린청년이 이토록 큰무대에서 실수 한번 안하고 침착하게 자기 기량을 한껏 발휘하는 그 담대함과 놀라운 재능에 큰 박수를 보낸다...그리고 자랑스럽다...감동의 전율이 일어나지 않을수가 없다.

이번 18th 콩쿨을 비롯해서, 다른 경쟁 연주자들과 성진초의 가장 큰 차이점은 단순한 미스터치의 유무가 아니다.
바로 건반 위에서 자유로운 것.
귀로 소리를 듣는 동시에, 손은 자유롭게 건반을 노니며 선율을 만들어내는 능력.
이것은 천재여야만, 타고나야만 가능한 것이기에
다른 쟁쟁한 경쟁자들보다 성진초의 연주가 밝게 빛나면서도 많은 사람들의 심금을 울리는 것이 아닐까..

Even though I am Korean, I wasn't interested in his performance when he won 2015 Chopin Competition. A Korean young guy won a piano competition in a far from distant country. Is that much amazing? Sitting in front of the piano again after 40 years, starting to learn the piano again, he has led me to his incredible, fascinating world. Thanks to him, I became more emotionally and culturally rich, and this year I began to enjoy the 18th Chopin Competition through live streaming. To find another pianist(actually I wanted to find a new pianist I am going to crush on).However, it was only my hope. I couldn't find a comparable performer, so I came back here, and I realize once again that he was at another level. I'm not saying that his performance is different because he's a Korean. I also feel an infinite honor to be born in the same century when I can hear and enjoy his performance as one of the people around the world. Also, I have a desire to learn more pieces and play more beautifully. Following his performance and taking steps with him for about a year is the 1st place on my bucket list. There is an in-depth interview with Cho posted on the Berlin Phil's website today (04/23/24). Cho talks about his programs with the Berlin Phil for this upcoming season: Ravel, Beethoven, Shostakovich. . . Cho will be performing all of Ravel’s solo piano works in one evening.

"I am very fortunate to have spoken to many great artists since I was a teenager. And there’s one thing in common that they advised me – that I have to learn new pieces before I reach 40. When you’re over 40, it is a little bit harder to learn new pieces. So when I was 17, I wrote down all the repertoire that I wanted to learn before I turned 40. I still have that notebook. I’m turning 30 and I think I’ve done almost half of it."

"There are no ultimate achievements in this profession. Winning some competitions or playing with prestigious orchestras is really wonderful. And, I’m honored to be Artist in Residence with the Berliner Philharmoniker. But my real goal has to be related to musical depth."

마지막에 연주를 끝내고 지휘쌤을 바라보는 그의 표정은 마치 수능 끝나기 십분전에 답안체크 다마치고 시험지 접고 집에갈 준비하는 여유넘치는 수험생 느낌이구만

이번 파이널리스트들 연주 듣다가 목이말라서 다시찾아왔어요. 미스 하나없는 연주, 그런데 안틀릴려고 신경 바짝세운 연주는 결코 아니고, 여유로움이라는 운동장을 깔아주니 음악이 뛰어노는 이런 연주라니. 물론 지난 콩쿨때 나는 다른연주자를 선호했었지만(Kate) 오늘은 조성진씨의 연주를 찾게됩니다. 이번 콩쿨 파이널, 목이마르다… 목이 말라…!
