How to Deal with Change | A Monk's Guide to Impermanence

So much is going on in the world. We are impacted by COVID-19, elections, politics, personal relationships, finances, etc. Things are constantly moving and shifting on a daily basis. So how do we cope with it all? Today, I wanted to take this time to talk about impermanence. Impermanence is the concept that things are constantly changing. When understood, this truth that the Buddha taught can help to guide us in our daily lives and times of change. For Buddhist monks, we continue to do our daily practice of meditation to help us cope with impermanence. During this difficult time, I hope this video can be of some help to you.

Hi Nick, back in July we were two weeks from moving into our new house and my wife told me she was filing for divorce. It was the height of covid and I had nowhere to go, so I slept in my parents office, on the floor for 5 months until i found a place to live. This video, along with the others you have posted, have given me the strength to continue and accept my new life as it is. My suffering has decreased significantly since I found your channel and I can't thank you enough for these merits. Kindest regards from Vermont

Going through a bad feeling. Not sure why it disturb me. Logically I should be able to see beyond it but the feeling attached is tiring.

Today I will meditate on the word - Impermanence. It will pass and I just have to trust the process. I will be ok.

This was exactly what I needed to hear today; thank you! I don’t necessarily connect it to Covid, but things have been changing drastically in my life recently, from my body to my relationships, to where I call home to what I feel is my purpose. These changes have brought much anxiety and uncertainty to my heart. This perspective of impermanence and non attachment helps immensely. I will try my best to implement your words and guidance as these changes continue and my life unfolds as it should. Peace and blessings to you from Southern México! ✌🏾🙏🏾🧘🏾‍♂️

This video moved me so much because last March I lost two friends with Covid, I couldn't go to the gym but I was training a lot at home because I didn't want to think about beloved friends and deal with the loss. In July I had an accident, a piece of wood from a scaffolding crushed on me in the street and I injured my shoulder. I had to stop, so I had to think about my friends and got nearly depressed. Crying desperately every day. After months I can say that Life takes care of Life because, with the accident I had to stop and grieving, my body is back after physiotherapy. I started my meditation again, I asked for help and get a wellbeing psychologist therapist
Who helped me to back to life again. You are absolutely right, we don't have to be attached to anything because all suddenly can change.
Thank you for this video

You were so on point with this one! Being left alone with my thoughts for so long left me with a brutal understanding of how important it is to keep our minds clear and bright. Our mind will always be with us, so it's important to make it a nice place to inhabit.
