So, I have to make a target rig in a 2nd file before I can transfer an animation. Okay...I thought there'd be an easier way of doing this, but I get it. You might want to have a library of poses, but not necessarily do what I'm doing, which is creating an animation for essentially the same object in a "hero" file, and then wanting to transfer the animation I work out to that (basically) same object. You'd want to transfer an animation to perhaps a wildly different object, but you'd need the same armature setup (bone group?). Anyway...good to know.

hi, how can I copy animations from one armature to another. the bone names match, but they seem to be of different size/shape and so it messes up everthing. any good advice/tool that I could use? thanks!!!!

Hello, my object with animation does not contain a rig, and I am unable to transfer the animation from the main project to a new project, do you know how to solve this?

is there another way like this but for 2d animation?

If I copy a model from another file and edit it to be a little more different, would anyone know that I stole it?

This destroyed EVERY animation in my target file except the one being copied. Fortunately I had a recent file with most of my animations in it. I will have to remake about half a dozen animations, but the remaining few dozen are in the recent copy.

UPDATE:

I was able to somehow recover all the animations in my target file (whew!). The better method, by far, to transfer animations between files is described here:
