Read Kindle eBooks without a Kindle!

I've seen lots of comments online from people who are under the assumption that the only way a person can enjoy all that the Amazon Kindle bookstore has to offer is to own a physical Kindle device, like the Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Oasis. This is not the case!

You can download and read Kindle eBooks on just about any smartphone, tablet or computer -- with the official Kindle Reading apps, or right in your web browser with the Kindle Cloud Reader.

I love my Kindle Paperwhite, but there are lots of other options for you to enjoy Kindle eBooks without having to buy a brand new device.

All are excellent points. The only downside, and the reason why I still owned a Kindle, is that on any other device, I would be too distracted on the web or other apps. Lol, But that is just me and my tiny attention span.

I've been reading on Kindle for desktop primarily from the beginning. My vision is wonky, so having it on the laptop means I can enjoy reading larger print on a bigger screen. Sometimes, I will read them on my iPod Touch. I'll eventually try out a Kindle though.

But can you buy books through the app and you don't have a Kindle? I don't have one and don't see how to buy books.

My fist option when reading will always be my kindle oasis. My second option is my iPad and the my last option is my iphone
Keeping my kindle oasis for reading. The size of it is great for traveling reading in bed. Reading for long periods of time on my iPad is not good for my eyes. Nor is my iPad as portable for reading when traveling. I read on my kindle when on a plane.

There are some non-kindle ereaders that get good reviews in terms of easy use etc. Can Kindle books bought from Amazon be read on those devices>

Thank you for the info. I'm actually looking for an e-reader but I don't want to Kindle because I hear they're pretty Limited. I don't know if you've heard of the Likebook E-Reader P10, 10” Eink Carta Screen, Dual Touch, Hand Writing, Built-in Cold/Warm Light, Built-in Audible &Out Speakers, Android 8.1, Support OTG, 2GB+64GB? Or any of the other ebooks that you are able to read Kindle books from the other e-readers? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. This would be one of my first reading devices. I would use my phone and or my iPad but I get too distracted and I would want to play games instead of read. Thanks again

I don’t own a kindle, but I downloaded the app and it only lets me download the sample. It doesn’t let me purchase or download any kindle books. I went to google and many people say you can only read it if you download it to your phone as a PDF but that’s so much space it takes up or if you download it on your kindle first and then open it on your other devices, but again, I don’t own a kindle. Any tips?

I am unable to find any option on amazon web login for directly reading the kindle books may be its not there for Indian Market as I am from India

Super unhelpful. Im trying to avoid a Kindle anything, . why would I pay for the damn App! Why Do I have to pay subscription to read!
