If you've seen it, Akaza's compass needle is based on the opponent's fighting spirit, and Akaza gets stronger the more spirit the opponent has which Sanemo would have a lot of it

Edit: It's confirmed by the author that not a single hashira can defeat the Upper Moon 1-3 by themselves. Remember that the scenarios between each hashira would be different. So you can't really say that Sanemi would hold Akaza's hand more than Rengoku because essentially you'd be saying all hashiras would be close to dying and win when they'd straight up die. We haven't seen Akaza truely be serious even when fighitng Giyu and Tanjiro until both of their marks awaken and Tanjiro gets transparent world (2v1)
