Just by inspection a/b=7/2 so a=7 and b=2. Just plug them into second equation.

It gets the correct answer but I very much doubt that this would get full marks because it skips some steps. You can't just assume that a^2 = 49 and b^2 = 4. It happens to work out in this case because it turns out that if you did the proper calculation the variables eventually cancel out and there's only a single solution, but if it you ever used similar logic in any equation that had multiple solutions then you'd be missing all the other solutions.

The better way to show it:
a= (7/2)b
a^2 = (49/4)b^2

((49/4)b^2 + b^2) / ((49/4)b^2 - b^2)
((53/4)b^2)/((45/4)b^2)

= 53/45

No need to do squaring on both sides etc.. if a/b = 7/2 then simply a=7 and b=2 so if directly substitute a and b value in the equation.. we will get the ans..
