The Girl of the Limberlost was my mother’s favorite book when she was young! (Someone just mentioned it the other day…perhaps you?) If you do find a copy of it and would be willing to pass it along to me and my mother, I would be thrilled!

There was a book about Shostakovich and Leningrad by MT Anderson too, I think. It was quite good.

The Boston Symphony with Andris Nelsons is going through the Shostakovich symphonies. They did #7 in 2017.

Shostakovich’s 7th symphony was scheduled to be played in my town at the end of March 2020. The concert did not happen. I have never heard this piece in concert. I hope I will one day... I read Leningrad, siege and symphony a few years ago. I would have liked it more if it had had better maps to illustrate the military side of the story.
