I just thought of this - Fishing Hooks and some Fishing Line - portioned out for trade would make a good barter item in a survival situation.

You can also get single serving instant coffee for bartering too and that's something that you can get at dollar tree. You can also get sewing kits, eye glass repair kits, hygiene products at dollar tree too.

Let me see here. No ammo, no guns, no TP, no reloading supplies, but the liquor stores never ran dry even though sales went up Food for thought....

Even when the Bic lighter fuel runs out a fire can be started with the spark from the empty cartridge.

The term "shot glass" was from trading a bullet for a "shot" of whiskey. Yep.

Okay, don’t laugh but my barter item is yarn. I’ve got lots of yarn. You can weave, knit, crochet and even embroider with it. You can make clothing, blankets, and stuffed toys. Very versatile.

I've been using this prepping system for years and it has served me well.

Every week of every Month spending $20 on prepping is easy.

Week #1 Buy shelf stable foods or long term dry goods like rice, beans etc. Canned, dried or freeze dried meats and fruits. Bottled water, electrolyte mix and a means to filter water.

Week #2 Buy medical supplies like over the counter medicines, antibiotics, wound care items, rubbing alcohol, other alcohols like whiskey, high proof vodka, bourbon, dried natural herbs, essential oils, hygiene and comfort items to stay healthy.

Week #3 Ammo, Firearm accessories like magazines, gun oil, gun solvents for cleaning, sights/scopes, holsters/slings, cutting tools and other weapons. (If you are needing a firearm or two I would save up the money for every third week along with any other available funds until you have enough money to buy what you want.)

Week #4 This is the miscellaneous week to buy other items like flashlights, fuel cans, batteries, solar panels, reading materials for various types of skillsets, handheld radios, etc.

I’m a massive fan of bartering.
I’ve done it all my life there are still villages in Peru that only use the barter system and the way that we are going with a cashless society it might be a make a comeback. 🙏🏼

Individual bartering could make you a target. You would have a hard time sleeping with one eye open after a while. Being known as 'prepped up' could be a self imposed death sentence.
My intention is to only barter as part of a tight, well armed group of men.

BIC lighters you can buy a bulk 50 of them for a little less than a dollar a piece. Also Liquid soap, save the little liquid hand rubbing alcohol containers and reuse them for liquid soap bottles.

Gold and silver is so high right now it’s unbelievable! I would say skill sets that you can provide would be good amongst other items.

Payment in salt is also where the term SALARY comes from.

Careful who you barter with. You might pick the wrong person

10 or 12 years ago I bought 4 cases of empty half pint bottles and filled half with cheap vodka and half with cheap whiskey. Now I have 96 bottles of each for trading. This reminds me; I'd better check and see if there has been any evaporation. It's been several years since I last looked.
