Is there a free tax software to file for PREVIOUS years as a self employed other than Free Tax USA? They have been great but I’m filing for 2022 and my return seems a lot less than usual. I would like a second option/opinion.

Good evening,
I stumbled upon your informative video and found it helpful. I have a specific question regarding our tax situation. Although my husband and I usually file jointly, this year he owes taxes. If he delays filing this year, will he face penalties? Can I still file jointly and receive credits without including his income? And if we proceed with this, how would he handle filing for the previous year's taxes next year? I appreciate any guidance you can provide on this matter.

Hello, I am dreading mailing my 2020 taxes and have been holding on to them for years because I missed the deadline. So you are saying that only professionals can e-file?

Hi, I didn't file my 2021 taxes since it was my first time doing it, and I was self-employed, so it made it more confusing. I just had the 1099-nec copy b, and I was sure how to go about it since not much information was in it. I was hoping you could help me.

I wasn’t able to e-file my 2020. I was only giving the option to e-file my 2021 returns and was directed to the mail option when I came to submit the forms. Can you please explain why I didn’t have the e-file option open for me? Thank!

The IRS is telling me I have to paper file my taxes for last year(2021) I didn't get a W-2 from one of my employers so I did download the wage and income transcript but unfortunately it don't have any state or local taxes. So how do I go about that? I don't think I can file n leave that blank can i?

I just prepared my 2021 returns but the site I used is telling me I must paper file. According to your video this isn't true but where can I file them then?

Nice video production, Jared! I've watched three of your videos so far and they've all been helpful and informative. As to the content in this video: Ah, so is this basically saying that efile is technically available but not from consumer tax filing software? I purchased a 2021 Tax program but it wouldn't let me efile at the end (even though it's now February, thus hopefully after the MeF cutover period...). Question for those not fortunate enough to efile this time around regardless...

The main pain point with paper filing both my federal + state taxes right now is that I'm not sure if I can paper file my state until my federal is processed(?), because my software gave instructions saying something about including pages 1, 2, and Schedule 1 of Federal Form 1040 with my State Form 40. I searched on Google and maybe got some misinformation but it sounded like I had to get something back(?) from my federal taxes before I submit my state forms? Or can I simply make a scan copy of my 1040 which I just printed out and signed, and staple it to my Form 40, and can send it immediately?

If someone is filing their taxes late for 2021, 2020, & 2019 and they are due for a refund each of those years they didn’t owe any $. Since they didn’t file for those years and they didn’t receive all the stimulus checks that everyone else did including the ones for their child. Will they still be able to get the money they were meant to get from the stimulus checks or have they lost out on some or all of those funds ?
